Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a lens having a high refractive index, superior formability and heat resistance by using a resin having specified three kinds of structural units as essential components and having a three-dimensional structure. CONSTITUTION:A composition contg. repeating units represented by formula I (where X is halogen other then F and m=1-5), formula II (where R is H or methyl, X is halogen other than F, Y is a unit represented by formula III, 3=3-5 and n=0-2) and formula IV [where R is H or methyl and A is a group represented by formula V (where R is H or methyl and n=1-10)] as essential components is copolymerized, and the resulting resin having a three- dimensional cross-linked structure is used to obtain a three-dimensional cross- linked structure is used to obtain a plastic lens. The preferred amount of the repeating units represented by the formulae I, II, IV are 20-85pts.wt., 5-70pts. wt. and 20-60pts.wt., respectively. The plastic lens has >=1.60 refractive index and >=35 Abbe's number and also has superior casting work efficiency, heat and shock resistances. The thickness of the peripheral part of the lens can be reduced and the lens has small chromatic aberration and superior post- workability.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A resin for high-refractive index spectacle lenses excellent in transparency, impact resistance, etc., consisting essentially of a polymer formed from a mixture of an at least bifunctional isocyanate compound and a specified hydroxyl group-containing vinyl monomer or an adduct between them. CONSTITUTION:An at least bifunctional isocyanate compound (e.g., hexamethylene diisocyanate) is mixed with a hydroxyl group-containing vinyl monomer of formula I or II (wherein X is bromine, chlorine, or iodine, R is methyl or H, and n is 1-4) at an NCO/OH molar ratio of 0.5-2, or these components are reacted to form an adduct. 20-100wt% of this mixture or adduct is mixed with 80- 0wt% vinyl monomer having a refractive index of a polymer >=1.55 (e.g., styrene or divinylbenzene). The resulting composition is polymerized to obtain the purpose resin for high-refractive index lenses.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled resin capable of forming high-refractive index lenses excellent impact resistance, bending elasticity, etc., comprising a polymer prepared by addition-polymerizing a compound mixture containing more than half of a specified unsaturated bond-containing compound. CONSTITUTION:A resin for plastic lenses, comprising a polymer prepared by addition-polymerizing a compound mixture containing above 50wt% at least one unsaturated bond-containing compound prepared by reacting a halogen-containing epoxy compound (e.g., brominated phenol monoglycidyl ether) with (meth) acrylic acid. Tough plastic lenses having a relatively low shrinkage during molding, a high refractive index and excellent impact resistance and bending elasticity can be obtained. Because of a high refractive index, the size or thickness reduction of a lens is possible.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyurethane resin useful as coatings, adhesives, etc., having excellent curing rate and low toxicity, and giving a coating film having excellent properties and appearance and non-yellowing properties, by reacting a specific trifunctional isocyanate with a polyol. CONSTITUTION:A polyurethane resin is prepared by reacting a polyol, e.g. ethylene glycol, etc., with a trifunctional isocyanate expressed by the formula (R is 2-3C hydrocarbon residual group), e.g. 2,6-diisocyanate-caproic acid-beta-isocyanate ethyl ester, etc., wherein NCO/OH is 0.5- 2 in molar ratio. USE:Useful for coatings or adhesives as two-pack type polyolcuring type or one- pack type thermally curable type composition.
