    Abstract: A film for thermal porous printing paper and a thermal porous printing paper composed of the film and a porous support are disclosed. The film comprises a biaxially oriented polyester film having a crystal melting energy, Delta Hu, of 3 to 11 cal/g and showing a difference between the crystal melting completion temperature and crystal melting initiation temperature, delta Tm, of 50 to 100 deg.C. Hence it has such a high heat sensitivity that characters and solid images are distinctly recorded with substantially no unevenness in thickness or density of the images. In addition, since it eliminates the necessity of reducing the thickness of the film.

    Abstract: A polyester film comprising a polyester whose dicarboxylic acid copolymerized component contains (i) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid having a metal sulfonate and/or a derivative thereof and (ii) a polyetherdicarboxylic acid represented by the following chemical formula (a) and having a mean molecular weight in the range of 600 to 20000 and/or a derivative thereof. R1OOCCH2-(O-R2)n -OCH2COOR3 (a) Where, "R1" and "R3" are H or alkyl groups each having a carbon number of 1 to 8, "R2" is alkylene group having a carbon number of 2 to 8 and "n" is a positive integer. The polyester film has excellent transparency, mechanical properties and dimensional stability such as those of a PET film and an excellent water absorption property such as that of a TAC film. Therefore, when the film is used as a base film for a photosensitive material, a good curl-extinguishing property as well as good transparency, mechanical properties and dimensional stability of the material can be realized.

A process for preparing a film which may have either of the above characteristics comprises supplying a thermoplastic resin to a die after heating and melting it at a temperature of not lower than a melting-finishing temperature "Tme"; extending the resin in a manifold of the die in the width direction of the die; cooling the resin in a land of the die at a temperature of lower than the melting-finishing temperature "Tme" and not lower than a crystallization starting temperature caused in cooling "Tcb"; and extruding the resin from the die.

    Abstract: Molten polyester sheet (2) is solidified by cooling it on the surface of a mobile cooling medium on which water film (7) is formed, and the sheet is stretched at least 4.5-fold in overall stretching ratio in a longitudinal direction through a plurality of stretching steps. Since casting is conducted via the water film, water is absorbed in the surface layer and the interior of the cast sheet, thus facilitating orientation by stretching in the longitudinal direction and lowering the stretching temperature. As a result, stretching with a high stretching ratio can be attained by multi-stage stretching without conducting high-temperature stretching. Thus, this process can accelerate film formation, improve productivity, and provide a film having reduced unevenness in thickness, less surface roughness and excellent abrasion resistance.

    Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a polyester film excellent in rigidity, toughness, dimensional stability, electric properties, etc. and less in thickness fluctuation and surface defects, hence very suitable as a film for various industrial materials such as magnetic recording media, capacitors, heat transfer ribbons and thermal mimeographic stencil paper. The first method of the present invention is a method for producing a polyester film, in which a film made of a resin mainly composed of a polyester is simultaneously biaxially stretched by a simultaneously biaxially stretching tenter oven, comprising the step of effecting small-ratio stretching at an area stretching ratio of 1.0005 to 3.0 times three times or more, to achieve a total area stretching ratio of 25 to 150 times, and the second method of the present invention is a method for producing a polyester film, in which a film made of a resin mainly composed of a polyester is stretched using a simultaneously biaxially stretching tenter oven, comprising the step of effecting a series of operation consisting of stretching and subsequent relaxation twice to less than 10000 times, to achieve a total area stretching ratio of 25 to 150 times.
