    Abstract: Novel polyimide solutions are provided which are obtained by reacting 1,2,3,4-butane tetracarboxylic acid or a functional derivative thereof with an organic diamine for example an aromatic diamine such as diaminodiphenyl ether in certain reaction solvents for example phenols, nitrobenzenes, pyridines, quinolines, N-alkyl lactams and cyanobenzenes at a temperature of from 100* C. to the boiling point of the reaction mixture until a polyimide solution is obtained having an imidization ratio of 5098 percent is obtained. The products thus obtained can be employed as varnishes, to make film coating for electric cable, as adhesives or blended with pigments and the like to make pains.

    Abstract: A film for thermal porous printing paper and a thermal porous printing paper composed of the film and a porous support are disclosed. The film comprises a biaxially oriented polyester film having a crystal melting energy, Delta Hu, of 3 to 11 cal/g and showing a difference between the crystal melting completion temperature and crystal melting initiation temperature, delta Tm, of 50 to 100 deg.C. Hence it has such a high heat sensitivity that characters and solid images are distinctly recorded with substantially no unevenness in thickness or density of the images. In addition, since it eliminates the necessity of reducing the thickness of the film.

    Abstract: An oriented polyester film is provided according to the present invention which contains, per 100 parts by weight of a polyester, (A) 0.005-2 parts by weight of fine particles having average size of 0.05-3 mu m, and (B) 0.005-2 parts by weight of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of high aliphatic monocarboxylic acids having 10-33 carbon atoms and esters thereof. Herein also disclosed is a composite polyester film which comprises a resin layer of copolyester or copolyester ether containing an ester-forming alkali metal salt of sulfonic acid compound, the layer being laminated on at least one side of the oriented polyester film as a substrate. The present invention further provides a magnetic recording medium comprising the oriented polyester film or the composite polyester film as a base. The novel films of the present invention have a surface satisfying three properties: flatness, slipperiness and adhesion, which are considered unable to be attained with a conventional polyester film. Furthermore, a magnetic recording medium having good electromagnetic conversion and running properties can be obtained from the films in the invention.

    Abstract: A three-layered laminated film consisting essentially of (A) a center layer consisting of a crystalline low molecular weight polyolefin having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5 to 1.4 and (B) two surface layers disposed on both sides of the center layer and each consisting of a crystalline polyolefin (b) having a melting point higher than that of the crystalline low molecular weight polyolefin (a), whereby the thickness of the center layer (A) accounts for 30 to 98 %, especially 50 to 85 %, of the total thickness of the laminated film. The invention also relates to applications of the laminated film.The laminated film of the invention has excellent finger-tearability and high toughness but little tendency to curl, to whiten when torn, to get turbid and fibrillated, and so forth. The laminated film is effectively used as an adhesive tape or other applications.
