Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a catalyst for polyester which is excellent in reactivity in esterification, transesterification, and polycondensation in comparison with conventionally used polytrimethylene terephthalate, has a good color tone, and has a low dipropylene glycol content, a low terminal carboxyl group content, and a low insoluble foreign matter content. SOLUTION: In producing a polyester by the polycondensation of a product obtained by the esterification or transesterification of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component mainly comprising terephthalic acid or its ester-forming derivative with a glycol component mainly comprising propylene glycol, a liquid obtained by treating a titanium compound with water containing an alkali compound, an organic solvent, or a mixture of water and an organic solvent is added as a catalyst for esterification, transesterification and/or polycondensation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester composition which yields a fiber product, etc., having a high strength and a high elastic recovery (strechability), allows little break at yarn-making or film-formation and shows an excellent molding processibility. SOLUTION: A polyester composition comprises propylene terephthalate as the main repeating unit and contains 0.001 to 20 wt.% particles having an average particle size of 0.05 to 5 μm. The composition contains 10 or less coarse particles of 5 μm or larger per 10 mg. The composition contains, as catalyst residues, from 0.5 to 300 ppm, calculated as titanium atom, titanium compound containing at least a titanium as a metal element and from 0.5 to 400 ppm, calculated as phosphorus atom, phosphorus compound, wherein the molar ratio of the titanium compound to the phosphorus compound (Ti/P) is from 0.3 to 20.

SOLUTION: The highly oriented and non-drawn polyester fibers contain a phosphorous compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or a monovalent organic group; R3 is a divalent organic group; R4 and R5 are each carboxyl, hydroxyl(ester), a hydroxyalkyl, an alkylalkylene glycol, amino or amido] or formula II R1, R3, R4 and R5 are each same as above; R6 is (CH2)n [(n) is 2-4]} in an amount of 20-1,000 ppm as phosphorus atoms, and has a birefringence δn of 0.015-0.08. The highly oriented and non-drawn polyester fibers are preferably obtained by spinning polyethylene terephthalate at a take-off speed of preferably >=2,000 m/min, more preferably, 3,000-7,000 m/min. Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber, consisting of ethylene terephthalate units, containing a specific long-chain alkyl group-containing ester-forming compound and having excellent color tone and friction characteristics and waxy feeling with durability. CONSTITUTION:The aimed fiber, having main recurring units of ethylene terephthalate and containing a long-chain alkyl group-containing ester-forming compound (e.g., 2-hexylsuccinic anhydride) selected from acid anhydrides, lactones and epoxides in an amount of 0.1-30mol.% based on an acid component constituting the polyester. Furthermore, the above-mentioned long-chain alkyl group-containing ester-forming compound is preferably added before completing polycondensing reaction in order to provide chemical bonds with the polyester component.
