A filter element (12) is disclosed. The filter element (12) may include filter media (22) extending circumferentially around and longitudinally along a longitudinal axis (24) of the filter element (12). The filter element (12) may also include pilot structure (40) attached to the filter media (22) and configured to locate the filter element (12). The pilot structure (40) may include an axial cross-section that includes at least one of a noncircular feature or an asymmetrical feature relative to the longitudinal axis (24).

Crankcase ventilation filter assemblies, components thereof, features thereof, and methods of assembly and use are described. An example assembly is characterized in which the assembly includes a housing having an access cover and a base, and a filter cartridge is configured to sealingly engage both the access cover and the base, in preferred manners.

Ein, zum Einsetzen in die, eine Kraftstoffpumpe mit einem System von Einspritzventilen verbindende Leitung bestimmtes, als Druckhalteventil konzipiertes Ventil (49) ist durch einen zum Durchströmen bestimmten Rohrkörper (50) gekennzeichnet, in welchen eine Muffe (53) eingesetzt ist, die in einem mittleren Bereich einen Dämpfungszylinder (55) bildet, innerhalb welchem das eine Ende eines Sperrkörpers (57) in Richtung der Achse (58) des Rohrkörpers (50) gleitfähig aufgenommen ist. Das dem gegenüberliegende Ende des Sperrkörpers (57) ist durch einen aus einem Elastomerwerkstoff gebildeten Dichtkörper (67) gekennzeichnet, der mit einem Ventilsitz (66) zusammenwirkt, der eine Durchgangsbohrung (65) einer Querwandung (63) des Rohrkörpers (50) zugeordnet ist. Der Sperrkörper (57) liegt an diesem Ventilsitz unter Federvorspannung an und es erfolgt die Bewegung des Sperrkörpers aufgrund des Zusammenwirkens mit dem Dämpfungszylinder gedämpft bzw. mit geringstmöglicher Geräuschentwicklung. Das Ventil (49) ist in besonderem Masse zur Entwicklung einer zuverlässigen Dichtfunktion im Bereich des Ventilsitzes (66) und damit zur Erfüllung einer Druckhaltefunktion in der genannten Leitung eines Kraftstoffversorgungssystems geeignet.

A filter for gravity-fed applications, having filter media with a hollow center, the filter being generally prone to a degradation or cessation in fluid flow due to air entrapment or air lock within the filter housing cavity, which develops during filtering. A diffuser element is introduced to pierce the entrapped air bubble, the diffuser element being an elongated structure connected to the filter housing top end cap and extending through the entrapped air bubble to the filter media.

An electronic system providing unique identification of a genuine filter system assembly to the engine control unit (“ECU”). A resistor is made to be an integrated part of the filtration system hardware such that when connected through a wired convection, the ECU detects a particular voltage signal and identifies the system as a genuine filter. The resistor could be integrated in any part of the filter system such that it could be used to recognize the filter or the cartridge. The resistor connection could be made via male/female pins, conducting wires, plates, conductive plastic material or other mechanisms.

A liquid filter assembly is provided. The assembly includes a liquid filter cartridge and a housing. The liquid filter cartridge, includes, among other things, first and second, opposite, end caps each having a central aperture therethrough. A seal arrangement including a radially directed seal is mounted on a seal support of the first end cap that projects away from the second end cap. The cartridge includes a seal mount configured to define a seal plane non-orthogonal to a central axis of the cartridge. The housing includes a filter head and a housing sidewall. The filter head includes a filter head having a body, a top cover and a bottom aperture opposite the top cover. The housing extends through the bottom aperture. The cartridge as described is installed in the housing, with an end cap radially sealed against a tube in a bottom of the housing.

A filter unit includes a body portion having a proximal end and a distal end. An engagement protrusion extends from the proximal end. The engagement protrusion includes a first portion that has a first radius of curvature and a second portion opposing the first portion that has a second radius of curvature that is larger than the first radius of curvature. A protruding retention surface is disposed on and extends radially outward from the body portion. The protruding retention surface is adapted to secure the filter unit in a filter head assembly.
