Abstract: In a metal bellows accumulator, a metallic bellows unit is disposed within a pressure space defined in a main shell, and one end of the metallic bellows unit is fixedly secured to one end wall of the main shell. The metallic bellows unit sections the pressure space into an outer chamber serving as a gas chamber in which a pressurized gas is enclosed, and an inner chamber serving as a liquid chamber communicating with a liquid port formed in the end wall of the main shell. A stopper (auxiliary shell) for limiting collapsing movement of the metallic bellows unit is disposed within the liquid chamber and has a communication passage hole. The liquid port always communicates with a liquid chamber to which an inner circumferential surface of a bellows portion of the metallic bellows unit is exposed via the communication passage hole.

Abstract: For sealing between two opposed surfaces of two machine elements (1, 2) a combination seal is provided to be fitted into an open groove (3) in one of the machine elements (2). The seal comprises an elastomeric expansion ring (4, 5) at the bottom of the groove (3), an intermediate ring (6) made of a viscous-elastic material, e.g. PTFE and having a sealing surface (6b) to contact the mating machine element (2), and an elastomeric outer ring (8) fitted into a separate groove (7) in the sealing surface (6b) of the intermediate ring. Especially in cases where the seal is to separate fluid and gas an improved distribution of the contact pressure at the sealing surface (6b) and also an effective hydrodynamic relief of the outer ring (8) preventing its exposure to injurious pressures and subsequent damage is obtained by designing the intermediate ring (6) at the ends of the sealing surface (6b) with comparatively sharp corners (16, 17), the parts of the sealing surface between these corners and the separate groove (7) forming conical faces (14, 15) which at a narrow slit angle converge towards the separate groove (7). The intermediate ring may also be biassed by the two expansion rings (4, 5) placed on each side of the separate groove (7).

Dadurch daß unter der Krafteinwirkung einer Vorspanneinrichtung 50 die beiden Trennkolben 12, 18 derart aufeinander zu bewegbar sind, daß das Dichtmedium vorgespannt ist, ist ein Kolbenspeicher geschaffen, der auch unter extremen Bedingungen bei langen Einsatzzeiten seine Dichtigkeit behält und sicherstellt, daß in keinem Betriebszustand Gas zur Fluidseite hin entweichen kann.

Abstract: In the interior of the housing (15) of an accumulator (10), a metallic bellows (30) and a self-seal mechanism (37) are arranged. The metallic bellows (30) partitions the interior of the housing (15) into a gas chamber (45) and a liquid chamber (41). The self-seal mechanism (37) includes an elastic seal member (35) and a face (36) which the elastic seal member (35) opposes. When the bellows (30) is compressed to the predetermined extent due to introduction of a compressed gas into the gas chamber (45), the elastic seal member (35) is brought into contact with the face (36), thus closing a flow port (18). The elastic seal member (35) has a slanted face (52), so that a wedge-shaped liquid guide gap (55) is produced when the elastic seal member (35) is in contact with the face (36). When, in this condition, the compressed liquid is introduced into the flow port (18), part of the liquid enters the liquid guide gap (55), thus permitting the seal member (35) to easily separate from the face (36).
