Abstract:
A field emission transistor uses carbon nanotubes positioned to extend along a substrate plane rather than perpendicularly thereto. The carbon nanotubes may be pre-manufactured and applied to the substrate and then may be etched to create a gap between the carbon nanotubes and an anode through which electrons may flow by field emission. A planar gate may be positioned beneath the gap to provide a triode structure.
Abstract:
A high dose output, through transmission and reflective target x-ray tube and methods of use includes, in general an x-ray tube for accelerating electrons under a high voltage potential having an evacuated high voltage housing, a hemispherical shaped through and reflective transmission target anode disposed in said housing, a cathode structure to deflect the electrons toward the hemispherical anode disposed in said housing, a filament located in the geometric center of the anode hemisphere disposed in said housing, a power supply connected to said cathode to provide accelerating voltage to the electrons.
Abstract:
An electron beam device for inspecting a sample with an electron beam is described. The electron beam device includes an electron beam source including a thermal field emitter, which includes an emitter tip having an emission facet configured for electron emission, wherein the emission facet has an emission facet width; and a first side facet and a second side facet, wherein an edge facet is formed between the first side facet and the second side facet, which has an edge facet width. The edge facet width is between 20% and 40% of the emission facet width. The electron beam source further includes an extractor device; and a heating device for heating the thermal field emitter. The electron beam device further includes electron beam optics and a detector device for detecting secondary charged particles generated at an impingement or hitting of the primary electron beam on the sample.
Abstract:
Tube amplifier system including a plurality of conductor walls extending parallel to a longitudinal axis and defining an interior space therebetween. The tube amplifier system also including a shorting deck that extends transverse to the longitudinal axis. The shorting deck is electrically coupled to the conductor walls. The tube amplifier system also includes a movable tray assembly having a grounding deck that extends parallel to the shorting deck. The grounding deck and the shorting deck define an output cavity therebetween that has a length. The movable tray assembly is removably mounted to at least one of the conductor walls such that the grounding deck is capable of being positioned at multiple different levels along the longitudinal axis to change the length of the output cavity.
Abstract:
A vacuum electron device comprises an evacuated envelope containing a cathode for supplying electrons to form an electron beam, an anode spaced from the cathode for receiving the electron beam, and a sensor electrode located between the cathode and the anode.
