A grounding apparatus for a distribution device having a functional element and a grounding contact point includes a grounding rail having opposed end sections provided with a holding part for fitting the grounding rail to the functional element. An electrically conductive contact spring on each of the end sections extends outwardly beyond the holding part to make contact with the grounding contact point. A safety plug for use with the grounding apparatus includes an overvoltage protection device connected to a conductive contact tongue for contacting an electrical cable connected to the functional element. The overvoltage protection device has a grounding electrode and a conductive fitting in electrical contact with the grounding electrode is provided with an insulation-displacement terminal for connecting the safety plug to the grounding apparatus. A handling apparatus having a base body with a retaining groove is provided for installing the grounding apparatus to the distribution device.

A terminal strip for interconnecting electrical lines, especially telephone or computer lines, comprising a single row of mutually parallel first conducting elements (9) placed side by side, each having an insulation-displacement end intended to house a line wire, the insulation-displacement ends of the first conducting elements being oriented towards the upper longitudinal side (7), and a single row of second mutually parallel conducting elements (11) placed side by side, each having an insulation-displacement end intended to house a line wire, the insulation-displacement ends of the second conducting elements being oriented towards the lower longitudinal side (8). These two rows (9, 11) are in a same plane and are interconnected via respective interruption points which are offset with respect to said common plane.

The system comprises a plurality of modules (1) fitted with wire guides (21, 22) and directly mounted on a free-standing rail (2) which is advantageously in the form of an extruded bar having fixing slots. The bar can be held in place simply by a pair of brackets, one near each of its ends. Conventional frame members can be omitted. The modules can be stacked in any desired configuration at any height up the bar. Naturally a particular installation may make use of a plurality of vertical, module-carrying bars.

The chassis (32) include back planes (24) having rear access IN/OUT fields (42) and rear access cross-connect fields (40). The rear access fields are electrically connected to termination panels located in respective IN/OUT regions and cross-connect regions. Each of the regions includes cable management channels within which system cables are routed.

The invention relates to a distributor device for use in communication and data systems technology, comprising at least one distributor connection module. Said distributor connection module comprises a housing which houses input and output contacts, accessible from the exterior, for connecting lines, cables or wires. The distributor device comprises at least one additional connection module which comprises at least one SDH/SONET transport interface and outputs for electrical signals. The outputs of the connection module are connected to inputs of the distributor connection module. The connection module comprises at least one converter for converting SDH/SONET transport signals to E1 signals and vice versa. The invention also relates to a corresponding connection module and a corresponding distributor connection module.
