Abstract: PURPOSE:To widen a sample chamber and to reduce the distance between the sample and a photodetector by so arranging a titled meter that divided two luminous fluxes are intersected again at around 90 deg. angle and disposing one photodetector commonly for the two luminous fluxes near the point of intersection thereof. CONSTITUTION:The luminous flux emitted from a spectroscope is divided and the divided luminous fluxes are intersected again at around 90 deg.. One photodetector is disposed commonly for the two luminous fluxes near the point where the two luminous fluxes intersect. For example, the light out from a spectroscope M is divided to two luminous fluxes with a sector mirror S1; the reflected luminous flux is reflected by mirrors m3, m4, and the transmitted luminous flux is reflected by mirrors m1, m2. These two luminous fluxes are intersected orthogonally on the photodetection surface of a photomultiplier P. Further, two sheets of light diffusion plates D, D' are disposed orthogonally in front of the photodetection surface of the photomultiplier P so as to assure the equivalency of the two luminous fluxes.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment with an improved accuracy of a double spectrophotometer by intercepting a reference light and a sample light into which a light flux from a light source is divided with a chopper provided near a mirror section. CONSTITUTION:A plate is set up near a mirror for dividing a light flux from a light source into a reference light and a sample light or a mirror for introducing two light fluxes unified to a detector so as to intercept the two lights cyclically in sequence. For example, a light flux 5 from a light source is divided into a reference light 2 and a sample light 3 with a pair or mirrors 6, which are intercepted cyclically in sequence with the rotation of a plate 9 mounted on an arm 7. As a result, signals are individually obtained corresponding to a reference light flux R, a sample light flux S and a noise D. The use of this system can reduce the number of detectors to only one, eliminating the need for an optical element readily fluctuating like a rotation sector. This improves the measuring accuracy thereby highly facilitating the adjustment of the optical path or the like.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of optical noises through a simple construction, by providing a chopper having two kinds of arc-shaped passages between a light source and two cells and by shaping the openings of the cells like arcs so that the centers of curvature of the openings are coincident with the center of gyration of the chopper. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of arc-shaped passages 12, 13 differenct in phase and radial orientation are provided so that the passages extend in the circumferential direction of a chopper 2. The openings of both cells 4A, 5A are shaped like arcs so that the openings are curved in the circumferential direction and the centers of the curvature of the openings are coincident with the center 0 of gyration of the chopper 2. When the chopper 2 is rotated, the light reception areas of the cell openings 4, 5 increase or decrease in rectilinear proportion the rotation angle of the chopper 2 as both the circumferential ends 10, 10', 11, 11' of the arc-shaped passages 12, 13 move in front of the openings 4, 5 of the cells 4A, 5A. This results in eliminating the irregularity in rising in the range from the full opening to entire closing of the openings 4, 5 of the cells and providing a rectilinear wave form without optical noises.

When the sector motor 4 starts, the sector mirror 1 and the gate disc 20 are turned, the incident light to the sector mirror 1 is incident to the detector as the signal for reflection light, test piece light and non-signal light per one revolution of the sector motor 4. Since the two notch holes 21 are set to the gate disc 20 corresponding to each signal, the sampling frequency is detected as double, as if the number of revolutions or the number of blades of the sector mirror 1 were doubled.
