Abstract:
A process for producing an object which has optical layers comprising the steps of applying optical layers to a substrate of plastic material wherein the optical layers are applied by means of a chemical plasma-impulse vaporization process (PICVD).
Abstract:
This invention relates to methods for preparing articles having modified surfaces. Preferably the articles are medical devices. Preferably the surfaces are elastomeric. Preferably the articles having modified surfaces are useful for immobilizing biologically active agents on the surfaces.
Abstract:
Polymeric substrate are coated by a process comprising pretreating the polymeric substrate by at least one physical method selected from the group consisting of corona discharge, flaming, glow discharge, irradiation with electromagnetic waves, and a plasma pretreatment, then coating the pretreated polymeric substrate with a composition comprising a fluoroalkyl-containing silicon compound. The resulting coated is very thin, highly hydrophobic and oleophobic. The coatings prepared by the process of the present invention are stable in boiling water and are resistant to abrasion.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing an object which has optical layers. According to the invention such a process comprises the following process steps: To a substrate of plastic material several optical layers are applied; the optical layers are applied by means of a chemical plasma-impulse vaporization (PICVC).
Abstract:
A method for producing a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic material coated on a surface of a polymeric film comprising, in the running direction of the polymeric film, the steps of pressing a cleaning tape made of one of a non-woven fabric and a fabric impregnated with a cleaning agent against the surface of said polymeric film onto which said coating material is coated in order to wipe off foreign matter adhering to said surface of the polymeric film; drying the surface of the wiped polymeric film; and just after the drying step, coating a magnetic coating material onto a surface of a polymeric film while said polymeric film is running. An apparatus for the above method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a multilayer article which includes a substrate, a first layer comprising a partial condensate of a diorganodiorganooxysilane having the formula R2Si(OR′)2 or an organotriorganooxysilane having the formula RSi(OR′)3, or both, where R is independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups containing about 1-3 carbon atoms, aromatic groups containing about 6-13 carbon atoms, the vinyl radical, the 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl radical, the gamma-glycidoxypropyl radical and the gamma-methacryloxypropyl radical, and R′ is independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups containing about 1-8 carbon atoms, aromatic groups containing about 6-20 carbon atoms, and hydrogen; and a second layer deposited on the first layer, the second layer comprising an organosilicon material which has been polymerized and oxidized in a plasma, the second layer containing silicon, oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen.
Abstract:
A vehicle light assembly includes: a lamp body having a mounting groove; and a plastic lens having a fitting part to be fitted into the mounting groove of the lamp body; and a flange portion protruding outwardly on a fore side of the fitting part; and a hard coat film formed over the outer surface of the lens except the rear face of the flange portion and the fitting part.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for facilitating plasma processing and in particular chemical plasma enhanced vapor deposition, plasma polymerization or plasma treatment of barrier materials onto the interior surface of containers barrier materials are useful for providing an effective barrier against gas and/or water permeability in containers and for extending shelf-life of containers, especially plastic evacuated blood collection devices.
Abstract:
A film comprising alternating layers of polyvinylidene chloride resin and a solvent barrier such as polyvinyl alcohol provides superior barrier properties. Barrier and mechanical properties are enhanced when formulation additives are present at customary levels only in the outermost layers.
Abstract:
A double side coating method in which immediately after a first coating is carried out for the first side of a web, the first side of the web is supported in a non-contact manner, and a second coating is carried out for the second side of the web. Immediately before the second coating is carried out, the second side of the web is charged in unipolarity by corona discharges induced by a high voltage generating unit with an electrode.
