PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce harmful exhaust gases, solve a problem in low temperature starting wherein a so-called "blue smoke" occurs in a so-called "warmup process" after the low temperature starting, improve performance, and increase fuel economy. SOLUTION: In this diesel engine with a variably actuated valve, end portions of two intake ports I related to cylinders are formed in different geometric shapes so that air sucked into the cylinders generates swirls of different levels. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument panel capable of suppressing, or at least reducing occurrence of any dangerous situation. SOLUTION: A display device 10 for an instrument panel for cars has a supporting structural body 11 which is mountable by a user. At least one transparent screen part 12 is provided on the supporting structural body 11. The transparent screen part 12 is located before at least one eyeball of the user, and the user can watch at least a part of the background via the transparent screen part 12. A virtual image generation means is disposed on the supporting structural body 11. The virtual image generating means generates adequately changeable virtual images so that the virtual images are displayed in the eyes of the user via the transparent screen part 12 at a predetermined distance. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlight for an automobile with a short depth consisting of a plurality of small sized light sources. SOLUTION: The lighting arrangement of the headlight for the automobile (10) is formed from a plurality of adjacent basic cells (11). Each cell contains the light source (12), stipulated by a light emitting surface provided with horizontal size (H) and vertical size (V) and radiating luminous flux and an optical system (13) which can transmit the luminous flux at a specified solid angle and in a specified direction. The basic cells (11) are installed so that all distributions of light in the specified light emission can be formed. The horizontal size (H) and the vertical size (V) of the light emitting surface of the light source (12) are different. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises a step of preparing a mercaptide-dispersed polymer by dispersing the mercaptide of a metal selected from the group consisting of transition metals and rare earth metals into the polymer and a step of heating the mercaptide-dispersed polymer for the thermolysis of the mercaptide for obtaining the metal or metal sulfide as included in the polymer matrix. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell laminated body 20 provided with a plurality of direct alcohol type fuel cells FC that are electrically connected. SOLUTION: Each cell FC comprises a compact structure provided with a first electrode, a second electrode, electrolyte set between the first electrode and the second electrode, a means to introduce current to the first electrode, and a means to introduce current to the second electrode. In an internal-combustion engine with exhaust-gas-recirculation system, electronic control means are provided designed to process an analytical model of the quantities "effective lambda" and effective EGR percentage", which is constructed on the basis of the physical laws that regulate the fluid-dynamic conditions in the intake pipe, in the exhaust pipe, and in the recirculation pipe of the engine. On the basis of the deviation between the values of said quantities estimated by the model and the reference values of said quantities associated to the conditions of operation of the engine, an operation of correction on the control of the valve that governs the recirculation circuit is implemented.
