    Abstract: A fuse cutout assembly (21) including a containment housing (22), a fuse (23), a mounting assembly (24) mounting the fuse (23) in the housing (22) for electrical connection to an electrical circuit. A plunger assembly (29) is movably mounted at least partially inside the housing (22) and preferably surrounding the fuse (23). An electrical conductor (28) is electrically connected to the fuse (23) and mechanically connected to the plunger assembly (29). The plunger assembly (29) is supported in the housing (22) in a first position and is formed to be propelled inside the housing (22) away from the first position to a second position by the hot gases generated upon rapid melting of the fuse (23). Movement of the plunger assembly (29) is preferably yieldably resisted by the air trapped between the plunger assembly (29) and the housing (22), which may be vented during plunger movement. Additional venting (94) for excessive pressure buildup can be provided in the housing (22), and a method of containing the hot gases and metals generated during fuse melting and retaining the components of the cutout assembly (21) is also provided.

    Abstract: The HELI-SHAFT intake exhaust manifold system is comprised of a shaft with two helical and parallel runners cutout around its length. Surrounding the shaft is a sleeve of the same length to enclose and separate the two runners. The intake runner has an opening at the front end of the shaft to provide an inlet for the air/fuel mixture to enter from the intake plenum. Exhaust gases exit the rear of the shaft through the exhaust opening; thus allowing the air/fuel mixture and exhaust gases to travel through the sleeved shaft following the runners in a parallel path. The shaft also provides locations for spark plugs to be inserted. The sleeve contains port openings located over each intake and exhaust runner positioned to provide alignment during rotation with individual combustion chambers aligned in a row matching both the firing order and cycle timing of the engine.

    Abstract: Grooves are formed in a CMP (12) pad by positioning the pad on a supporting surface with a working surface (22) of the pad in spaced relation opposite to a router bit (24) and at least one projecting stop member (33) adjacent to the router bit, an outer end portion of the bit projecting beyond the stop. When the bit is rotated, relative axial movement between the bit and the pad causes the outer end portion of the bit to cut an initial recess in the pad. Relative lateral movement between the rotating bit and the pad then forms a groove which extends laterally away from the recess and has a depth substantially the same as that of the recess. Different lateral movements between the bit and the pad are used to form a variety of groove patterns, the depths of which are precisely controlled by the stop member(s). The grooves may be formed in the polishing surface and/or the rear opposite surface of the pad and passages may be provided for interconnecting the rear grooves with the polishing surface or the front grooves. Grooves in the polishing surface may be provided with outlets through which a polishing slurry may flow while the polishing surface is in contact with a workpiece surface.
