Abstract: PURPOSE: A disc accommodating cartridge having a disc recognition device is provided to allow a recording/reproducing system to recognize the sate of a disc accommodated in a cartridge case to reduce recording time. CONSTITUTION: A disc accommodating cartridge includes a cartridge case(20), a shutter(30), a cover(40), and a disc recognition device. The cartridge case is constructed in such a manner that upper and lower cases(22,24) in which a plurality of recognition holes(20b,20c,20d), the first and second long holes(20f,20g) are formed are combined with each other to form a disc accommodation space inside the cartridge case. The cartridge case has accommodation holes(22b,24b) at the top and bottom faces thereof. The shutter is movably set at the cartridge case to open/close the accommodation holes. The cover covers the disc accommodation space of the cartridge case. The disc recognition device is placed at the cover to selectively confirm the sate of a disc accommodated in the cartridge case.

The tilting unit includes a tilt coil(430) for forming a current path, the second magnet(420) and the second yoke(410) for forming a magnetic field perpendicular to the current flowing through the tilt coil to generate electromagnetic force for rotating the base plate.

A light pickup moving unit comprises a lead screw(60) being located at one side of the guide shafts(50) and being geared with a rack of a pickup base(26) and stepping motor(62) and a stepping motor(62) injecting one end portion of the lead screw(60) and providing a driving force for moving a light pickup device. The stepping motor(62) is fixed on the deck base(10) by a bracket(64), and the other end portion of the lead screw(60) is rotatively mounted to a fixing flap(66).
