Abstract: The sorter controller is for a sorting appts. of the type having a stack of trays which are vertically movable, with tray pins moving in slots, the slots having a central kinked selection to move a tray towards the supply of sheets to be sorted, and transfer wheels for propelling the trays through the kinked section and each having three radial 120 deg. spaced channels for engaging tray pins. The control system includes a central processor, which interfaces with a machine supplying the sheets to be sorted, a device for detecting one third revolutions of the transfer wheels, the home position sensor for detecting the trays in a certain position and the bin motor driving circuit for controlling the drive to the transfer wheels.

Abstract: The compact sorter for sorting copied papers comprises slot liners, a transfer wheel, and a number of bin trays. The middle portion of the slot liner which is formed in each of side plates of the sorter body is bent toward the ejecting section of the copy machine within the radius of gyration of the transfer wheel, in such a manner that the bin trays for loading the copied papers should advance one by one to directly below the ejecting roller, so that the ejected papers should be exactly received into the correct position of each of the bin trays. Vertical and horizontal movements of the bin trays are made to be possible, and both the bin tray which has completed the receiving of a copied paper and the bin tray which has been waiting are made to be simultaneously moved.
