Abstract: The present invention is intended to provide an economical externally-monitored leakage detection system for landfill liner which is simple in structure to realize marked decrease in the manufacturing cost and the operation of which can be conducted manually in a convenient manner so that a position of damage in landfill liner may be detected and determined. The present invention has the essential feature that the leakage detection system comprises electro-conductive graphite elements for detecting the difference in voltages as applied on a landfill, the electro-conductive graphite elements being buried in the soil at fixed intervals in arbitrary locations of the landfill provided with a leakage preventing liner, metal pins for fixing said electro-conductive graphite elements and for guiding the burying of the same graphite elements, sensing lines connected to said electro-conductive graphite elements and said metal pins, supporting rods for guiding said sensing lines, and a measuring device connected to said sensing lines, said measuring device being designed for measuring and recording the differential voltages detected at said electro-conductive graphite elements, whereby location of damage in a landfill liner may be detected.

Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is a kit for examining water quality by measuring the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus contained in a water soluble sample. CONSTITUTION: The kit for examining water quality contains reagents for measurement of each concentration of ammonia, nitrous acid, nitric acid and phosphoric acid, each comparative color band and a reaction vessel. Abstract: PURPOSE: A preparation method of alkaline water by using a waste shell washed, dried, ground, heat-treated, or acid- or alkali-treated is provided which is more economic and sanitary than conventional method. CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing alkaline water which comprises: (a)a stage for grading a shell with a wire woven mesh sieve of 40 to 150-meshes after washing, drying and grinding; (b)a stage for pouring water into a column filled with the graded shell or settling it in water; (c)a stage for washing the ground shell with an organic solvent; (d)a stage for treating the ground shell with an inorganic acid such as 1-10 wt.% of hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, or phosphoric acid if necessary; (e)a stage for heating the dried shell at 600-1,000°C for 12-24 hrs. The alkaline water has high alkalinity and is produced economically and sanitarily.
