    Abstract: PURPOSE: A kit and a method for detecting low concentration of COD in samples are provided, thereby determining concentration condition of reagents, and consequently using the reagents in the field rapidly, easily and effectively. CONSTITUTION: A detection kit for detecting low concentration of COD in samples comprises (1) a detection vessel for reacting samples with reagents; (2) a reagent vessel having 1.0 to 2.5M H2SO4 as an acid regulating reagent and potassium permanganate as a coloring reagent, and a reagent injection port; (3) a standard color band for determining the color grade of reacting product between the samples and reagents; and (4) a color grade comparing device. A detection method for detecting low concentration of COD in samples comprises the steps of: (1) injecting samples into the detection vessel; (2) adding potassium permanganate into the samples in the detection vessel and mixing them; (3) adding a sulfuric acid solution into the detection vessel and mixing them; (4) heating the mixture at 60 to 100 deg. C for 3 to 10 minutes; and (5) determining COD by comparing the color grade of the reaction mixture with the standard color band or the color grade comparing device.
