Abstract: PURPOSE: An optical line monitoring apparatus and a method thereof are provided to support an upstream communication in an optical network terminal (ONT) and easily perform an optical signal analysis by using identifying information at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A comparison unit (205) extracts first identifying information about an ONT from reflection data which is received by being reflected from an optical line. The comparison unit compares second identifying information about a predetermined ONT with the extracted first identifying information. In case the first identifying information is same with the second identifying information, a processor (207) analyzes a state about the optical line by using the reflection data. Abstract: An OLT(Optical Line Terminal) system in a PON(Passive Optical Network) for CBMS(Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service) is provided to avoid a distortion of broadcast signals, due to a transmission delay and a loss of broadcast packets, by limiting the bandwidth of communication signals in order to guarantee the transmission bandwidth of broadcast signals. An OLT system in a PON for CBMS comprises a band monitoring part(601), a band limiting part(603), a multiplexing part(605), a switch(607), MAC processing parts(609-1-609-n), and optical transceivers(611-1-611-n). The band monitoring part(601) monitors the data packet band of a broadcast signal delivered from a core network or a metro network. The band limiting part(603) limits the band of a communication signal delivered from the core network or the metro network. The multiplexing part(605) multiplexes the monitored broadcast signal and the band-limited communication signal. The switch(607) switches the multiplexed signal packets to switch ports corresponding to PON links. The MAC processing parts(609-1-609-n) process the multiplexed signal packets, switched and transmitted through the switch(607), using an OLT MAC function. The optical transceivers convert the multiplexed signal packets, processed by the MAC processing parts, into optical signals and transmit them to associated PON links.
