Abstract: A variable compression system for a vehicle is provided to vary a compression ratio by moving a ball on the center of a piston in a vertical direction during compression of the piston. A variable compression system for a vehicle includes a cylinder block, a piston, a ball, a cam, a cam adjustment ring(18), an auxiliary cylinder(20), and a power source(40). The piston reciprocates within a cylinder(10) of the cylinder block. The ball is mounted in a hole formed in the top of the piston such that the height of the ball is adjustable. The cam is coupled to a piston arranged at the bottom of the piston for connection to a piston rod. The cam adjustment ring is connected to the cam, and provides vertical movement and left and right rotating force to the cam. The auxiliary cylinder is mounted on the inner surface of the lower end of the cylinder of the cylinder block so as to provide rotating force to the cam adjustment ring. The power source provides rotating force to the auxiliary cylinder.
