Abstract: A copper-containing catalyst of the composition of N2O contains a compound of the formula MxAl2O4, where M is Cu or a mixture of Cu and Zn and/or Mg and x is from 0.8 to 1.5. The novel catalyst is used in a process for the catalytic decomposition of pure N2O or N2O contained in gas mixtures, at elevated temperatures.

Abstract: Catalyst containing copper for decomposition of dinitrogen monoxide contains a metal oxide-alumina compound, in which the metal is copper and optionally zinc and/or magnesium and is present in an amount ranging from 0.8 to 1.5 times the stoichiometric amount for a spinel. Catalyst containing copper for decomposition of dinitrogen monoxide (N2O) contains a compound of formula (I). MxAl2O4 (I) M = copper or mixtures of copper with zinc and/or magnesium; and x = 0.8-1.5. Independent claims are also included for 2 methods of preparing the catalyst.

Abstract: Reactor for catalytically oxidizing ammonia to nitrogen oxides contains a catalyst for decomposing N2O arranged between a precious metal lattice catalyst and a heat exchanger. Independent claims are also included for: (A) an apparatus for the production of nitric acid from ammonia comprising a reactor for catalytically oxidizing ammonia to nitrogen oxides containing a catalyst for decomposing N2O arranged between a precious metal lattice catalyst and a heat exchanger, and an absorber for nitrogen oxides, and a reducer for reducing nitrogen oxides; and (B) a process for catalytically decomposing N2O comprising contacting a hot gas mixture produced from the catalytically oxidation of ammonia with the catalyst for decomposing N2O before subsequent cooling.

Abstract: Continuous production of 1,1-diphenylethylene (I) by dehydrogenation of mixtures containing 1,1-diphenylethane (II) on an iron (Fe) catalyst is carried out in a reactor for non-oxidative dehydrogenation, in which ethylbenzene (III) is dehydrogenated to styrene (IV) simultaneously. (II) is added from an independent source to (III). Preferably continuous production of 1,1-diphenylethylene (I) by dehydrogenation of mixtures containing 1,1-diphenylethane (II) on an iron (Fe) catalyst is carried out in a reactor for non-oxidative dehydrogenation, in which ethylbenzene (III) is dehydrogenated to styrene (IV) simultaneously. (II) is added from an independent source to (III). The mixture is fed into the reactor. (I) is isolated from the residue of high-boiling constituents remaining when styrene is distilled.
