    Abstract: A multi-trace element fertilizer which contains magnesium as a further nutrient and in which the complex-forming trace elements are present in the form of anionic chelates with one or more N-carboxyalkylaminoacids is prepared by a process wherein the N-carboxyalkylaminoacids are reacted, in the presence of water, with the trace elements or trace element compounds in a molar ratio of N-carboxyalkylaminoacids to trace elements or trace element compounds of not less than 0.8:1, at least 20% by weight of the trace element compounds being oxides, hydroxides and/or carbonates. At the same time, or subsequently, the pH of the solution is brought to 3.5-6 by adding a member selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide, hydroxide and carbonate. A maximum of 50 equivalent percent of the magnesium compound may however be replaced by a member selected from the group consisting of alkali metal oxides, hydroxides and carbonates and ammonia.

    Abstract: A process for producing finely divided phosphorus-containing iron involves gaseous phase reaction of iron pentacarbonyl with a phosphorus compound, preferably phosphine. Preferably, the reaction is carried out in the presence of ammonia at above 200 degrees C. Also claimed is a finely divided phosphorus-containing iron which consists of spherical particles with 1-10 mu mean particle diameter or of filament aggregates of spheres with 0.2-3 mu diameter. Preferably, the iron contains 0.1-50 wt.% P, less than 1 wt.% C, less than 1 wt.% N, less than 0.5 wt.% H and less than 0.1 wt.% total of other impurity elements and is produced by the above process. Further claimed is apparatus for carrying out the above process, including a heated decomposition tube, devices for producing two different temperature zones, for evaporating liquid iron pentacarbonyl and for gas dosing and mixing, and a separator for finely divided phosphorus-containing iron.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a highly pure lithium salt using lithium carbonate. Said method comprises the following steps: A: treating a mixture comprising lithium carbonate and water with CO2 to produce an aqueous mixture containing lithium hydrogencarbonate; B: passing the aqueous mixture containing lithium hydrogencarbonate through an ion-exchange module; C: precipitating out the lithium carbonate from the aqueous mixture containing lithium hydrogencarbonate obtained in step B after treatment with the ion-exchange module and D: reprocessing the precipitated lithium carbonate or converting the precipitated lithium carbonate into another highly pure lithium salt.
