    Abstract: In prepn. of caprolactam by Beckmann conversion of cyclohexanone oxime with oleum at 70-130 deg.C, in at least 1 stage, the reaction mixt. is held for 10-600 mins. at 70-110 deg.C in a post-residence zone. Conversion is at 108-118 deg.C in 2 or 3 stages, with addn. to the 1st stage of all the oleum and 60-95 pts. of cyclohexanone oxime, and addn. of 40-5 pts. of the oxime to the latter stages. The mixt. is held in the post-residence zone for 15-180 mins., at 90-100 deg.C.

    Abstract: A process for working up reaction mixtures containing cyclohexyl hydroperoxide, which have been obtained by oxidation of cyclohexane with molecular oxygen or gases containing such in the liquid phase at a temperature of 130 to 200@C and under a pressure of 5 to 125 bar, by reaction with cycloolefins at elevated temperature in the presence of catalysts, characterised in that cyclohexyl hydroperoxide is reacted with cyclohexene at elevated temperature in the presence of cyclohexane-soluble compounds of transition metals of the 4th to 6th group of the Periodic Table and the resulting cyclohexene oxide is then hydrogenated at elevated temperature in the presence of hydrogenation catalysts to give cyclohexanol.
