The inventive method includes a phosphono compound as an intermediate step, said phosphono compound being hydrolysed into alpha -aminophosphonic acid. The invention also relates to said phosphono compound and the method for the production thereof. The inventive method enables alpha -aminophosphonic acids to be produced in a simple and economical manner as well as ensuring a high yield and purity.
