Abstract:
An appliance for cleansing a surface area of the skin in the form of a set comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer for securing the appliance to the patient's skin, said wafer or pad having an aperture for receiving a stoma, surrounding a wound, a fistula or a drainage site, and further having first coupling means being fixedly connected to the body side member, and a separately applicable cleansing appliance adapted to fit tightly against the surface of the body and being provided with an inlet for injection of liquid and an outlet, said appliance comprising two walls of flexible material the rear wall having an opening suitable for surrounding the surface area of the skin to be cleansed which opening is surrounded by matching second coupling means adapted for removable coupling and sealing to first coupling means of the body side member, and the front wall being provided with an adapter secured sealingly to the wall and having an opening communicating with an opening in the front wall giving access to the internal space between the front and back walls through the adapter which adapter is suitable for being connected to a supply for cleansing liquid, and an outlet opening the adapter has essentially conical shape and wherein the top and narrow part of the cone is directed away from the patient is easily operated by one person, provides a safe and reliable sealing against the body, is suitable for cleansing a surface area of the skin of a patient, reduces the risk that a vacuum may tend to draw the front wall against the rear wall and causing the bag to collapse and is a cheap device that may be used as a disposable device.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an ostomy appliance (1) comprising a front wall (2) and a rear wall (3) of flexible material forming a bag, said rear wall (3) having an opening (4) for receiving a stoma, and being provided with an adhesive wafer (5) for securing the appliance (1) to a user's skin, said wafer (5) having a hole (6) being aligned with the opening (4) for receiving the stoma (12) , wherein the opening (4) of the rear wall (3) has an edge (7,) being adapted to be secured to a surface of the adhesive wafer (5) facing away from the user in an attachment zone (8) surrounding the hole (G) of the wafer (5) , and wherein a first part of the edge (7) of the opening (4) of the rear wall (3) is permanently secured to the surface of the wafer (5) in a corresponding first part of the attachment zone (8) , and a second, remaining part of the edge (7) of the opening (4) of the bag is prepared for adhesive sealing of the same to the remaining second part (8) of the attachment zone.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said wafer having a hole for receiving a stoma, wherein the body side member comprises first substantially annular coupling means for releasable attachment of a separately exchangeable receiving bag to the body side ostomy member for receiving secretions from the stoma, said receiving bag comprising matching substantially annular coupling means, wherein the body side member comprises a separate sealing member for sealing against the stoma, wherein the separate sealing member is in the form of a disc having a centre hole for accommodating the stoma and wherein at least the skin-contacting surface of the disc comprises a mass of a adhesive, wherein the disc facing the skin of the user has a maximum outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of the first annular coupling means and wherein the centre hole of the disc has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the stoma-receiving hole of the body side member ensuring that the disc covers all of the surface of the adhesive wafer facing away from the user located between the first annular coupling means and the stoma, said disc being made from a material that may be detached, rinsed and reapplied offers a body side member comprising a sealing member which may be removed. washed and reused, which has a service time at least as long as the body side member, and which reduces the frequency of stressing the skin around the stoma due to exchange of the body side member by protecting the surface of the adhesive wafer from soiling by and attack from the aggressive visceral contents and facilitates the cleaning of the body side member.
Abstract:
A pressure sensitive adhesive composition suitable for medical purposes comprising a rubbery elastomeric base and two or more water soluble or water swellable hydrocolloids, said adhesive composition comprising a substantially homogeneous mixture of 15-60 % of one or more rubbery components, 10-60 % of a mixture of hydrocolloids comprising one or more hydrocolloids selected from the group of amidated pectins and potato starch, 0-50 % of one or more tackifier resins, 0-15 % cohesive strengthening agent, 0-10 % of a plasticizer and 0-5 % pigment, shows at least as good properties with respect to resistance to biological fluids as well as adhesion to the skin and coherence as state of the art adhesives comprising gelatine.
Abstract:
In an ostomy appliance comprising an adhesive, flexible, skin barrier product for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said skin barrier having a hole for receiving a stoma, ureter or catheter, and said skin barrier comprising, in the surface to be secured to the user's skin, at least a first zone showing adhesive and barrier properties and a second zone showing moisture absorbing properties wherein the first zone comprises a substantially homogeneous mixture of from 15 to 95 % by weight of one or more rubbery components and from 2 to 85 % by weight of a starch, and furthermore may comprise from 0 to 60 % by weight of one or more hydrocolloids, from 0 to 50 % by weight of one or more tackifier resins, from 0 to 10 % by weight of one or more plasticizers and from 0 to 5 % by weight of a pigment, the barrier adhesive 'behaves', in a dry state, rheologically as an adhesive comprising hydrocolloid but which does not absorb moisture in the presence of moisture. Thus, itching when the adhesive is placed on the skin and a light reddening after removal is avoided.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer or pad for securing the appliance to the user's skin, said wafer or pad having a hole for receiving a stoma, and an optionally separately exchangeable receiving member or bag secured to the body side ostomy member for receiving secretions from the ostomy, said ostomy appliance further comprising a sealing member disposed in the hole of the wafer or pad surrounding the stoma wherein the sealing member disposed in the hole of the wafer or pad surrounding the stoma, said sealing member having a hole for accommodating the stoma and said sealing member having balanced plastic and elastic properties allowing an adaptation of the hole of the ostomy appliance to a stoma by a temporary enlarging the hole by everting or rolling up the inner rim of the hole for accommodating the stoma. When the ostomy appliance of the invention has been placed over and around the stoma the adhesive sealing member may recover essentially to the original form to fit snugly to the stoma. Preferably at least the area of a release liner covering the separate sealing member is provided with a guide for adaptation of the hole of an ostomy appliance to the size of an ostomy, said guide being visible from the side of the release liner facing the sealing member.
