Abstract: Molding composition containing a) 2,4,5-triketoimidazolidine precondensates containing terminal oxamide ester, urethane and/or isocyanate groups and b) customary organic and/or inorganic fillers, which contains the triketo compound a) in the form of an amorphous precondensate as a reactive filler or in the form of a composite of a1) a 2,4,5-triketoimidazo-lidine precondensate pulp and a2) a pulp of other fiberforming polymers or, instead of this pulp a2), fibers made of 2,4,5-triketoimidazolidines and/or other materials and c) at least one further reactive component of a binder from the group consisting of phenolic resins, amine resins, epoxide resins, polyester resins, hydrocarbon resins containing functional groups and/or polymerization resins containing functional groups, their use for manufacturing radiation-, light- and/or heatresistant and/or abrasion-resistant shaped articles, and a process for preparing a composite of 2,4,5-tri-ketoimidazolidine precondensate pulp and fibers by spraying a solution of a triketoimidazolidine precondensate in organic solvents together with fibers or injecting a solution of the precondensate into a suspension of fibers in a coagulating bath.

Abstract: Thermosetting coating compsn. comprises (A) oligomers and/or polymers contg. OH and/or epoxy gps. and (B) a mixt. of polycarboxylic acids contg. trimellitic acid. The mixt. (B) contains >=1 cpd. contg. ester groups and having formulae (I)-(III): In the formulate, R,R' and R" are opt. branched hydrocarbon gps. of valency 2-6, pref. 2, contg. 1-12, pref. 2-6C and opt. having up to 2 olefinic double bonds or contg. up to 3 ether bonds; x and y are 2-6, t is 1-5 and z and n are 0 or 1-5. The compsn. pref. contains as third component (c) a polymer of fluorinated vinyl monomers contg. is not >=2F, the ratio of A+B:C being 9:1-1:9, pref. 3:1-1:3. Used for coating a variety of substrates e.g. ceramics, wood, glass, concrete, plastics and esp. metals. The compsn. is highly reactive and can be applied as a powder or in soln. It cures at 120-200 degrees C pref. 120-180 degrees C within 30 mins. (cf. 180-200 degrees C for prior art compsns.) Compsns. contg. component (c) are partic. suitable for coil-coating. The compsn. is storage stable and (B) is soluble even in weakly polar solvent.

Abstract: A thermosetting coating or adhesive composition based on (A) at least one component selected from the group consisting of oligomeric and polymeric compounds containing at least one of the functional groups hydroxyl and epoxy groups, and (B) a polycarboxylic acid mixture comprising trimellitic acid and a major amount of at least one compound of one of the formulae (I) (II) (III) +TR wherein R, R' and R''', being the same or different, each represents a di- to hexavalent hydrocarbon radical having a total of from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, said radical containing from zero to 2 olefinic double bonds, said radical without double bonds being interrupted by up to 3 ether bridges: x and y which may be the same or different, each represents an integer of from 2 to 6; t an integer of from 1 to 5; and z and u, which may be the same or different, each represents zero or an integer of from 1 to 5 and a process for coating a substrate with said composition.
