    Abstract: Un material con resistencia balística que comprende al menos una capa híbrida, cuya capa híbrida comprende una pluralidad de fibras o una pluralidad de cintas, o ambas, cuya pluralidad de fibras comprende al menos dos tipos de fibra físicamente diferentes y dicha pluralidad de cintas comprende al menos dos tipos de cinta físicamente diferentes, cuyos tipos de fibra o cinta físicamente diferentes tienen al menos una propiedad física distinta, en donde dichas fibras tienen una tenacidad de al menos 25 g/denier y dichas cintas tienen una tenacidad de al menos 20 g/denier y dichas fibras y cintas tienen un módulo de tracción de aproximadamente 300 g/denier o más, y en donde dichos al menos dos tipos de fibras o cintas físicamente diferentes se forman a partir del mismo polímero.

    Abstract: Ballistic resistant fabric laminates are provided. More particularly, reinforced, delamination resistant, ballistic resistant composites are provided. The delamination resistant, ballistic resistant materials and articles may be reinforced by various techniques, including stitching one or more ballistic resistant panels with a high strength thread, melting the edges of a ballistic resistant panel to reinforce areas that may have been frayed during standard trimming procedures, wrapping one or more panels with one or more woven or non-woven fibrous wraps, and combinations of these techniques. The delamination resistant, ballistic resistant panels may further include at least one rigid plate attached thereto for improving ballistic resistance performance.

    Abstract: A method for applying multiple polymeric coatings onto a fibrous substrate. More particularly, a method for applying multiple polymeric coatings onto fibrous substrates without regard to chemical or physical incompatibilities of the polymeric coating materials. A first polymeric material is applied onto at least one fibrous substrate, and a second polymeric material is applied onto a support. The fibrous substrate and support are joined, contacting the first polymeric material with the second polymeric material, followed by separating the support from the fibrous substrate, such that at least a portion of the second polymeric material remains on the first polymeric material on the fibrous substrate.

    Abstract: A helmet shell formed from two types of high tenacity fibers in multiple layers of fibrous materials. The fibrous materials are in the form of layers of fibrous networks in a resin matrix. There are a plurality of each type of fibrous layers. Preferably the outer set of fibrous layers is formed from aramid fibers and the inner set of fibrous layers is formed from high tenacity polyolefin fibers. There may also be employed a third type of fibrous material as an additional set of fibers and used as the outer layers of the helmet shell. The third type of fibrous layers is formed from glass fibers that are also in a resin matrix. The helmet is lightweight, has excellent ballistic resistant properties and is useful for both military and non-military applications.
