Abstract: A named range defined by a cell address range in a spreadsheet comprises a plurality of cells identified in each dimension by an address, each dimension comprising two directions. An open named range is specifyed to the named range in at least one open direction. A hidden named range with the cell address range of the open named range is expanded by one address in every direction specified as open. In response to user action, at least one direction is selected, the cell address range of the hidden named range is increased by inserting between two consecutive cell addresses, a new address in selected directions, the open named range is updated with the cell address range of the hidden named range shortened by one address in every direction specified as open.

Abstract: A method and system for identifying an authentication status of a first item. An RFID reader transmits zero and a random number to a first RFID tag associated with the first item. The first RFID tag uses a hashing function to compute a hash (H1) of a concatenation of an identifier (Id1) of the first RFID tag, the random number, and a first secret key and sends the hash H1 to the RFID reader which then transmits the identifier Id1 and the random number to a second RFID tag. The second RFID tag uses the hashing function to compute a hash (H2) of a concatenation of the identifier Id1, the random number, and a second secret key and sends the hash H2 to the RFID reader. The authentication status of authentic or counterfeit is determined for the first item based on whether or not H1 is equal to H2.

Abstract: A method and system for managing deletion operations in a recursive scalable template instance (RSTI) of an electronic data table having dimensions D1 and D2. The RSTI includes contiguous recursive element instances (REIs) ordered and aligned along D1. The REIs include scalable template instances (STIs). Contiguous elements are deleted, upon satisfying consistency condition(s), in a first STI. The RSTI is structured according to an associated recursive scalable template (RST) that includes a recursive element (RE) including at least one scalable template (ST). Each STI is structured according to an associated ST. The contiguous elements are structured according to a first ST associated with the first STI. A size of the first REI along dimension D1 is adjusted according to a size of a largest STI in the first REI. All REIs of the RSTI remain contiguous after the deleting and adjusting.

Abstract: Definition of a true or false values to Boolean option variable in a computer spreadsheet, which are then used to control the contents of a range of cells within the spreadsheet. For each cell a one or more Boolean variables are assigned. Then for each cell the value of the Boolean variables within the cells are set according to the value of the Boolean option variable. If the value is false then the cell values take a default value, while if true then the variables take a delta value. Each Boolean variable in the cells is controlled by the first or second Boolean option value and for each cell in the considered range a delta value is calculated. Independent claims are included for (1) a system for assigning values in computer spreadsheets. (2) a computer program for assigning values in computer spreadsheets.

Abstract: The system includes a room or an enclosure in the form of parallel rows of rack servers separated by aisles to be cooled that is suitable for housing hardware components. The cooling system includes a first air input for controllably allowing input of outside air from outside the enclosure, a second air input for controllably allowing input of recycled air from the enclosure, a cooling mechanism, and an air output for allowing output of air into the enclosure. A control system includes a first temperature monitor for monitoring an outside air temperature, a second temperature monitor for monitoring a blowing air temperature of air at the air output, and a control mechanism for controlling an operation of the first air input, the second air input, the air cooling system in dependence on the monitored temperatures. Hygrometry control can be optimised and an override mechanism is provided in response to exceptional conditions outside of the enclosure. An elongate duct may be provided along and above the hardware racks (Figure 5b).
