    Abstract: PAGING IN A HSDPA CONNECTED MODE CELL-PCH OR URA-PCH STATE. A WTRU IS CONFIGURED TO SELECT VARIOUS PICH INFORMATION THAT IS BROADCAST BY A BASE STATION (415) (IN THE HSDPA ASSOCIATED PICH INFO' INFORMATION ELEMENT OF A SYSTEM INFORMATION BLOCK 5/5BIS) BY COMPILING A LIST OF CABDIDATE PICHS, AND SELECTING A PICH INFO BASED ON THE U-RNTI OF THE WTRU. IN ONE EMBODIMENT, A PREFERRED WTRU IS CONFIGURED TO RECEIVE PAGING MESSAGES, BASED ON A PICH, A HS-SCCH, AND A HS-PDSCH. IN ANOTHER EMBODIMENT, A PREFERRED WTRU IS CONFIGURED TO RECEIVE PAGING MESSAGES, BASED ON A PICH AND A HS-PDSCH.     Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating and processing a high speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) medium access control (MAC-ehs) protocol data unit (PDU) are disclosed. MAC-ehs service data units (SDUs) are multiplexed based on a logical channel identity. Reordering PDUs are generated from the multiplexed MAC-ehs SDUs. A reordering PDU includes at least one MAC-ehs SDU and/or at least one MAC-ehs SDU segment. A MAC-ehs SDU is segmented on a priority class basis if a MAC-ehs SDU does not fit into a reordering PDU. A MAC-ehs PDU is generated including at least one reordering PDU. The MAC-ehs SDUs may be stored in priority queues before generating the reordering PDUs. Alternatively, the reordering PDUs may be generated from the multiplexed MAC-ehs SDUs. Alternatively, the received MAC-ehs SDUs may be buffered in a corresponding buffer for each logical channel before multiplexed based on a logical channel identity, or reordering PDUs are generated.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for cell update while in a CellFACH state are disclosed. After selecting a target cell, system information is read from the target 5 cell including high speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) common system information. A radio network temporary identity (RNTI) received in a source cell is cleared and a variable HSDSCHRECEPTION is set to TRUE. An HS-DSCH medium access control (MAC-hs) entity is configured based on the HS-DSCH common system information. High speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) 10 transmission is then received in the target cell. A CELL UPDATE message is sent to notify of a cell change. The HSDPA transmission may be received using a common H-RNTI broadcast in the system information, a reserved H-RNTI as requested in a CELL UPDATE message, or a temporary identity which is a subset of a U-RNTI. The MAC-hs entity may be reset. A WTRU IN AN ENHANCED CELLFACH STATE SELECTS A TARGET CELL, THE WTRU STOPS TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING ON THE SOURCE CELL AND CLEARS THE C-RNTI AND H -RNT USED IN THE SOURCE CELL. c:-206 THE WTRU READS SYSTEM INFORMATION IN THE TARGET CELL AND DETERMINES THE TARGET NODE - B CAPABILITY.     Abstract: A method and apparatus for sending a channel quality indication (CQI) via a shared channel while a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is in a Cell_FACH state without having a dedicated channel allocated for the WTRU are disclosed. A WTRU performs a measurement of at least one parameter and generates a CQI based on the measurement. The WTRU then transmits the CQI via a random access channel (RACH). The CQI may be transmitted using an RACH preamble. A plurality of signature o sequences may be divided into a plurality of groups. The WTRU may select one group based on the CQI and randomly select a signature sequence among signature sequences in the selected group for transmitting the RACH preamble. The CQI may be appended to the RACH preamble. The CQI may be transmitted via a control part or a data part of the RACH message.
