    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silicate-based builder having highperformance by mixing silica sand with water, an Nacontaining compound, a K-containing compound and a Cacontaining compound and/or an Mg-containing compound, subjecting the obtained mixture to hydrothermal treatment and baking the product. SOLUTION: Silica sand having a maximum particle diameter of =90 wt.% is mixed with an Nacontaining compound such as NaOH, a K-containing compound such as KOH and water and further a Ca containing compound such as CaCO3 and an Mg-containing compound such as MgO to obtain a mixture having a water content of 24-50 wt.%. The mixture is subjected to hydrothermal treatment under 5-15 kg/cm G at 150-200 deg.C for 1-24hr, dried, baked at 300-1,500 deg.C for 0.1-24 hr and pulverized to obtain anhydrous inorganic builder.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformly produce an inorganic builder having excellent moisture- absorption resistance and high ion-conversion capability in high efficiency by mixing a soda water-glass having a specific SiO2/Na2O molar ratio, an alkali component and a Ca salt and/or Mg salt dissolved in water and calcining the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The soda water-glass to be used in this process preferably has an SiO2/Na2O molar ratio of 2.1-4.2 and the water-glass having an SiO2 content of 23-38wt.% and an Na2O content of 5-18-wt.% is economically preferable. The alkali component is e.g. sodium hydroxide. There is no particular restriction on the Ca component and the Mg component provided that the component is a salt easily soluble in water, however, nitrate and chloride are especially preferable. The concentration of the salt in the aqueous solution is >=5wt.% and up to the saturated concentration. It is preferable to increase the alkalinity of the soda water-glass and then add the aqueous solution of the Ca salt or Mg salt. The temperature of the solution in the addition of the salt solution is preferably 0-100 deg.C.
