Abstract: The invention relates to a method and arrangement for closing doors of an elevator equipped with a car door 9a, landing doors 17a at each landing floor 4, 4a, 4b, and a control system 10a for controlling the activities of the elevator. According to traffic situations controlled by the control system 10a of the elevator, the door open time of the car doors 9a and landing doors 17a is adjusted, in some embodiments by speeding up the closure of the doors 9a, 17a, where at the same time the passengers are informed, for example with a nudging sound, about the speed-up. In some embodiments, in the case that two or more cars 10, 20 operate in the same shaft, and a car stops so long that another car would be delayed, the closure of the doors 9a is sped up, and the passengers informed. In other embodiments, when either the landing door 9a or the elevator door 17a has failed, an additional safety element 9b, 17b such as an additional safety door, is closed independently, after which the car is moved away from ground level.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method, a system and a computer program for the effective evacuation of a building in an emergency, in which at least one elevator can be used as an evacuation aid. In the method the group control of the elevators monitors the numbers of people on the different floors of the building. The floor on which it is assumed are most people is set at each moment of monitoring for a greater priority in an evacuation situation. Taking into account the limited supply power a free elevator car is directed to the floor of the greatest priority, at which the elevator is filled. The full elevator is directed without stopping to the exit floor of the building. The system monitors by means of detectors the safety of the different parts of the building and directs people if necessary to a safe evacuation location to wait for an elevator. A so-called Traffic Forecaster can be used as an aid in defining the priorities.
