    Abstract: DISCLOSED IS AN UNDESIRED OPENING-PROOF FPC CONNECTOR WHICH IS CAPABLE OF PREVENTING UNDESIRED RAISING OF ITS ACTUATOR FROM THE CLOSING POSITION (SECOND POSITION) TO THE OPENING POSITION (FIRST POSITION). IT COMPRISES AN INSULATING HOUSING (2) HAVING AN FPC INLET SPACE (21) MADE ON ITS FRONT SIDE, TERMINALS (3) MOUNTED IN THE HOUSING WITH THEIR CONTACTS (31) EXTENDING TOWARD THE FPC INLET SPACE (21), AND AN ACTUATOR (4) ROTATABLE BETWEEN THE FIRST POSITION IN WHICH AN FPC (5) CAN BE INSERTED IN THE FPC INLET SPACE AND THE SECOND POSITION IN WHICH THE FPC IS PUSHED AGAINST THE CONTACTS OF THE TERMINALS. THE ACTUATOR (4) HAS FIRST OPPOSITE PIVOTS FORMED ON ITS OPPOSITE SIDES AND A SECOND PIVOT (46) EXTENDING BETWEEN THE FIRST OPPOSITE PIVOTS (45). THE ROTARY CENTER OF THE FIRST OPPOSITE PIVOTS AND THE ROTARY CENTER OF THE SECOND PIVOT ARE SO OFFSET FROM EACH OTHER THAT THE ROTARY CENTER OF THE SECOND PIVOT IS RESPONSIVE TO MOVEMENT OF THE ACTUATOR FROM THE SECOND TO THE FIRST POSITION FOR MOVING APART FROM THE FIRST BEARING SURFACES (621) ON WHICH THE FIRST OPPOSITE PIVOTS (45) STAY. THE SECOND PIVOT IS RESILIENTLY CAUGHT BY THE SECOND BEARING SECTION (331) OF THE SUPPORT PIECES (33) OF THE TERMINALS (3), THEREBY RESILIENTLY RESISTING TO THE MOVEMENT OF THE ROTARY CENTER OF THE SECOND PIVOT APART FROM THE FIRST BEARING SURFACE (621).

    Abstract: A card connector assembly for receiving a card member is provided with an eject device wherein the eject device is assembled directly onto the support frame of the card connector assembly to thereby reduce the number of components, the number of assembly steps and the resultant manufacturing costs of the connector assembly. The card connector assembly comprises a card guide portion (5a), a connector portion (9) to be connected to the card member, a support frame (3) continuous with both the card guide portion and the connector portion and an eject device (2). The eject device (2) comprises a slide member (22) slidably movable along the support frame (3), a movable lever (35) operating in accordance with movement of the slide member (22) for moving the card in a direction away from the card connector (7), and a cam mechanism (10) for defining the sliding range of the slide member (22). A part of the cam mechanism (10) is provided directly in the support frame (3).

    Abstract: An eject mechanism for a card-receiving connector equipped with a foldable eject button (1) which provides sufficient mechanical ejection stroke without excess projection of the ejection button from a front face of an electronic apparatus. The card ejection mechanism includes an eject rod (2), an eject button (1) connected to the ejection rod, and an actuation lever for ejecting a memory card from the card-receiving connector. The eject button (1) includes a base button (3) and an operation button (4). The operation button (4) is pivotally connected to the base button (3) and is mounted for movement between a raised position where the operation button (4) is axially aligned with base button (3), and a folded position where the operation button (4) is oriented generally perpendicular to the base button (3). The operation button (4) includes a base portion (5) for engaging a corresponding recess (6) in the base button (3) for holding the operation button (4) in its raised position.

    Abstract: An improved connector terminal has a profile which facilitates insertion into engagement holes on a circuit board. The terminals may be part of an assembly which includes a series of terminals arranged in a spaced-apart array. Each has a solder tail portion defined by a straight edge proximate to the centerline and a slanted edge which diagonally extends from the other side and which traverses the centerline to intersect with the first side to thereby form an acute angle at the tip of the terminal near the centerline to provide comparable positioning allowances on the opposite sides of the centerline to facilitate mounting of the terminals on a circuit board. The acute angle point is advantageous to the optical measurement of terminal intervals for the quality control.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an improvement relating to a thin, applied-to-surface type of electric connector comprising a housing 1 and a plurality of terminals (9, 12) fixed thereto. Each terminal has a solder tail (8, 11) extending outward under the bottom (31) of the housing to be positioned on a selected conductor of a printed circuit board for subjecting to automatic soldering. The distance N between the ends (8A, 11A) of opposed solder tails is shorter than the maximum lateral size L of the housing 1. Both sides of the housing 1 have a chamfer 13 along its lower longitudinal part. The ends of the terminals and their receiving cavities may be slanted to hold the terminals within the housing and prevent stubbing.

    Abstract: An electrical connector of low-insertion force type comprises a male plug (1) having pin terminals (2) and a female socket (3) having contacts (5). Each pin terminal (2) has straight slant opposite surfaces (6, 7) extending from the opposite ends (D, E) of its flat nose (B) at a same angle. The flat nose (B) is positioned with its center somewhat beyond the center axis (C) of the pin terminal, thereby placing the opposite slant surfaces (6, 7) asymmetrical with respect to the center axis (C) of the pin terminal. Thus, the insertion force of each pin terminal (2) reaches its peak value on one side of the pin terminal earlier than on the other side as shown at S1 and S2 in Fig. 4. This permits substantial reduction of the insertion force overall. The straight inclination of surfaces (6, 7) can be easily shaped with precision. This facilitates mass production of pin terminals (2) of the same insertion force characteristics.
