Abstract: The primary of a transformer with a high leakage inductance is coupled to an unregulated alternating voltage source. The output voltage from a secondary winding is full wave rectified by diodes and filtered by a capacitor to provide a voltage for the audio circuits. The voltage developed in another secondary winding is full wave rectified and is filtered by a capacitor to provide a voltage for the tube grid circuits. A separate winding is used to provide the EHT supply. The output windings are tightly coupled magnetically and their output voltages are controlled by a saturable reactor connected to the tube grid supply winding. This reactor comprises a winding on a magnetically saturable core and coupled to a resonating capacitor. A permanent magnet polarises the core to stabilise the output voltages against temp. effects.

Abstract: The primary winding of a high leakage inductance transformer is coupled to a source of alternating input voltage to develop alternating polarity output voltages across tightly coupled secondary windings, including a high voltage winding of the transformer. Various DC supply voltages, including the ultor voltage, are derived from the secondary winding output voltages. To regulate the secondary winding output voltages, a ferroresonant circuit comprising a capacitor and a saturable reactor is coupled as a load circuit to one of the transformer secondary windings. When the saturable reactor magnetically saturates during each half cycle of the alternating polarity output voltage, a circulating current is generated and flows between the saturable reactor and the capacitor. To enhance the power supply efficiency and reduce the temperature rise within the magnetizable core of the saturable reactor, the parameters of the transformer and ferroresonant load circuit are selected so as to generate a relatively low amplitude circulating current. To improve output voltage regulation when a low amplitude circulating current is developed, a compensating drive winding is provided that is magnetically tightly coupled with the primary winding of the high leakage transformer. The compensating drive winding is coupled in series with the saturable reactor winding across the capacitor and polarized relative to the capacitor coupled transformer secondary so as to oppose the tendency of the output voltage amplitude or half-cycle volt-second area to vary with variations in input voltage amplitude.

Abstract: A primary winding of a power transformer is coupled to a source of DC voltage. First and second controllable switches are coupled to the primary winding in a push-pull arrangement. A control circuit responsive to a deflection rate input signal that is synchronized with deflection circuit scanning applies a turn-off switching signal alternately to the two controllable switches during each deflection cycle. In response to the turnoff of each one of the two controllable switches, a turn-on switching signal is applied to the other switch to develop a deflection rate alternating polarity output voltage across an output winding of the power transformer. The output voltage is rectified and applied to a deflection generator to thereby energize the generator into developing scanning current in a deflection winding.

Abstract: A start-up circuit for a television receiver includes a circuit for rectifying the AC line voltage and a filter for providing a smoothed DC voltage. When the receiver is turned on, an initial interval exists in which an inrush current flows into the filter. A winding, magnetically coupled to an inductor in the path of the inrush current, develops an alternating current potential during the initial interval. This potential is rectified and provides a start-up operating voltage for the television receiver load circuits. During the steady state interval, a second circuit provides the operating voltage, and a third circuit couples to the winding a voltage which varies in value from the initial interval to the steady state interval in a manner which decouples the alternating current potential from the load circuits during the entirety of the steady state interval.
