Abstract: A cushion for a patient interface for delivering breathable gas to a patient. The cushion has a base wall structured to be connected to a frame, an underlying support cushion extending away from the base wall towards the patient's face in use, and a membrane provided to substantially cover at least a portion of the underlying cushion. The membrane is adapted to form a continuous seal on the patient's face. Either the membrane or the underlying cushion has an external surface that defines an outer width of the cushion, and the base wall is internally offset with respect to the external surface. A lower portion of the underlying cushion has a semi-circular question-mark or sickle shape configuration that defines a space below the lower portion of the underlying cushion and adjacent the base wall.

The second portion is adapted to be connected to an air supply to provide a supply of air at positive pressure to the nasal pillows assembly. The elbow includes a vent 5045 for gas washout, the vent including an array of small vent holes 5047 located in the elbow in such a way that the vent direction does not change with elbow rotation.
