Abstract: The invention concerns a method for preparing p-hydroxymandelic compounds optionally substituted and their derivatives. Le procédé de préparation d'un 4-hydroxybenzaldéhyde substitué, au moins en position 3 par un groupe alkoxy, est caractérisé par le fait qu'il consiste à soumettre un composé phénolique substitué au moins en position 2 par un groupe alkoxy et dont les positions 4 et 6 sont libres, à une première étape de carboxylation en position 6; puis à une étape d'hydroxyméthylation en position 4, suivie d'une étape d'oxydation du groupe hydroxyméthyle en groupe formyle; enfin à une dernière étape de décarboxylation.
