Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the reference position of a spectral element from being indexed while a cell has not been fitted. SOLUTION: When the power of the device is turned on, a power supply part 36 for light source is turned on by a control part 38 and a lamp 2 is turned on. A reference position detection continuation judgment part 28 judges whether a cell has been fitted or not according to the detection signal of a cell fitment sensor 20 that is transmitted via a signal-processing circuit 26. When the cell has been fitted, an operation for detecting a zero-point position by a reference position detection part 32 continues, and the zero-point position of grating is detected based on an electrical signal from a photosensor 14 and a pulse signal for drive being sent to a motor 16 for driving grating and is stored at a storage part 34. When no cell has been fitted, an operation for detecting the zero-point position is suspended via the reference position detection part 32 and the control part 38 and an error message is displayed on a display part 40.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To precisely adjust the temp. of the sample soln. reaching the flow cell of a differential refractometer detector to predetermined constant temp. CONSTITUTION: Within a heat exchanger block 2, a part of the introducing pipe 7 guiding an eluate to a flow cell 1 from a column 6 is covered with a heat insulating material 10 so as to be thermally cut off from the block 2. A current source 11 is connected to both ends of the covered part in order to allow a current to flow to the covered part. A temp. sensor 12 is brought into contact with the introducing pipe 7 of the part covered with the heat insulating material 10 to be connected to a temp. control circuit 13 and the detection signal of the temp. sensor 12 is taken in the temp. control circuit 13. The temp. control circuit 13 controls the current source 11 so that the detected temp. of the temp. sensor 12 becomes predetermined constant temp. to regulate the quantity of the current flowing to the introducing pipe 7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To execute precise discrimination as to whether a peak of a chromatogram is one of a single component or an incompletely separated one, by monitoring said peak for an actually continuous time and by comparing mutually the whole of an absorption spectrum of a prescribed wavelength band. CONSTITUTION:A liquid flowing out from a liquid chromatograph L is made to circulate through a flow cell F, while a light emitted from a light source P and transmitted through the flow cell F is made to enter a spectroscope M. This incident light is dispersed by a diffraction grating G and the spectral image thereof is formed on a photodiode array D. An output of the diode array D is converted into an absorbance signal through an absorbance conversion circuit Ad. CPW samples the signal obtained through the absorbance conversion, at a prescribed time interval. Then, as to one chromatogram peak, a correlation value of absorption spectrum data at a certain time point with absorption spectrum data of the same peak at another time point is calculated with the former absorption spectrum data used as a basis. This correlation value is displayed on a time base by an appropriate display means.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To numerically evaluate the coincidence of a standard material and measuring sample by calculating the correlative relation of the chromatograms of both the materials with time and using the information on both the retention time and the absorption spectra at the chromatopeak. CONSTITUTION:The light from a light source 18 passes an optical cell 22, is spectrally divided by a diffraction grating 24 of a spectroscope and is detected by a detector 26. the detection signal of the detector 26 is taken into a computer 30 after A/D conversion 28. The absorption spectra at the chromatopeak of the standard material are first integrated in the wavelength direction and the chromatopeak is so standardized that the integrated value attains the specified value which is previously set. This chromatogram is stored in a 1st memory. The absorption spectra at the chromatopeak of the measuring sample are integrated in the wavelength direction direction and the chromatopeak is so standardized that the integrated value attains the specified value. This chromatogram is stored in the 2nd memory. The correlation coefft. is calculated by using the stored chromatorgrams and the retention time and is compared with the present reference value. The identity of the measuring sample and the standard material is thereby judged and the result thereof is displayed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate disturbance and distortion of a gradient curve and to eliminate a solvent front peak as well by installing an inlet slit of a polychrometer to the incident face side of a flow cell and providing an incident face of a planoconvex lens to the flow cell. CONSTITUTION:The inlet slit 14 of the polychrometer is installed on the incident face side of the flow cell 2a. Then, even if the refractive index of a soln. flowing in the flow cell 2a changes and if the optical axis changes, there is no influence at all on the quantity of the light passing the split 14 installed in front of the incident face of the cell 2a. The entire incident light on the cell 2a past the slit 14 is entered to a photodetector 10 by the means provided to the cell 2a, i.e., the planoconvex lens 22.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable correction of changes in the sensitivity with limited noise in a broad dynamic range, by adding outputs of a pair of photoelectric elements to control the gain of an amplifier to be inversely proportional to the addition output. CONSTITUTION:Outputs of a pair of photoelectric elements 8a and 8b are converted to voltage with converters 9 and 10 and then, inputted into an adder 11 while one thereof is inputted into a subtractor 12 via a code converter 13. The output of the adder 11 is fed to the base of a transistor 17 to emit light from an LED 16. Then, the gain of an amplifier 14 changes in inverse proportion to light energy I incident into photoelectric elements 8a and 8b. Therefore, the variation portion of the light energy I is cancelled from the signal outputted from the amplifier 1 to obtain the signal proportion to only the refractance index difference DELTAm between the sample solution and the control liquid.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable common use for high-sensitivity fine analysis and low-sensitivity sharing, by switching of two different slit-widths from one to other, and changing light quantity of a source of an incident light to an optical cell in such a way that the quantity is proportional to the slit-width. CONSTITUTION:When a high-sensitivity slit 8-1 is set by switching and specimen liquid of a refraction coefficient difference DELTAn and reference liquid are allowed to pass through an optical cell 12, an image on an optical sensor 2 makes a displacement by DELTAd and from a detecting signal of the sensor 2, an output propertional to DELTAd/d1 [(d): width of image] is obtained to an output of a subtraction element 28 through I-V convertors 20, 22, addition element 24 subtraction element 26. Further, a circular disc 8 for slit is rotated by changeover switch 30, motor driving circuit 32, and motor 10, and by changing to a low-sensitivity slit 8-2, a width of an image is multiplied by 10 times and by a source circuit 34, light quantity of the light source 4 is cut down to 1/10 in order not to canse a change of output of the element 24. By these procedures, the sensitivity is cut down to 1/10 and a linearity range is boosted by 10 times in proportion to the slit-widths.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-sensitivity cell by constituting a cell body with materials whose acoustic impedance is approximaterly equal to acoustic impedances of a stored solution and a piezoelectric film and adding an electric signal taking- out lead wire to the piezoelectric film. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric film 4 is attached to cover the outside circumference of glass or quartz glass of a cell body 1, and they are brought closely into contact with each other by an epoxy adhesive, a silicone grease, or the like for the purpose of preventing a considerable attenuation of pressure waves due to penetration of air between the outside circumferential face and the film 4. Both faces of the piezoelectric film 4 are electrodes, and lead wires 7 are added, and one is earthed, and the other is connected to an amplifier. A sample solution is introduced into a storage part 8 from a leading-in part 2 and is filled up there, and light from a light source is irradiated into the storage part 8 through a transmission member 3 in the direction of a arrow X, and acoustic waves are generated in the sample solution, and a pressure is sensed through the cell body 1 by the piezoelectric film 4 to generate p potential. This potential is measured through the amplifier.
