Abstract: PURPOSE:To use a small-sized ribbon cartridge to make a printer small in size as a whole by a method wherein the ribbon cartridge is locked in a ribbon cartridge containing part by a locking means which can engage with/disengage from a cutout part formed in the ribbon cartridge. CONSTITUTION:A recessed groove part 13a extending horizontally in a transverse direction is formed on a position opposed to a bonding frame part 96 on the back side of a ribbon cartridge 90. A cutout part 13b is formed on a position opposed to a cutout part 96b of the bonding frame part 96 on the back side of the recessed groove part 13a. A locking part 110a provided at the top end of a locking lever 110 can engage with/disengage from the cutout part 96b of the ribbon cartridge 90 from the cutout part 13b of the groove part 13a of a ribbon containing part 13. Since the ribbon cartridge 90 is locked in a ribbon cartridge containing part 13 using the cutout part 96b formed in the bonding frame part 96 in this manner, a mechanism for locking the ribbon cartridge 90 is simplified, and the size of a printer is reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the replacement of a ribbon cartridge when an ink ribbon paid out from the ribbon cartridge is cut during printing by a method wherein a ribbon take-up reel is detachably provided on a take-up reel mount. CONSTITUTION:When an ink ribbon is cut, the cut state is detected by an optical sensor operates to rotate the take-up reel mount 69 counterclockwise and the supply reel mount clockwise. In this manner, the cut ink ribbon is separately wound on a ribbon take-up reel 17 and a ribbon supply reel. Upon completion of winding the cut ink ribbon separately on the ribbon reels, the ribbon take-up reel 17 is detached from the take-up reel mount 69, and the cut ink ribbon is removed. The ribbon take-up reel 17 with the cut ink ribbon removed is mounted on the take-up reel mount 69 and a bearing part 19, as shown by a two-dot chain line, to prepare for a next printing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To smoothly and easily chuck an ink ribbon to a ribbon take-up reel to take up the ink ribbon without generating ununiformity in winding, a shift in a ribbon width direction, and the like by a method wherein an engaging part for engaging with or disengaging from an engaged part formed on the leading end of the ink ribbon is retractably provided on the ribbon take-up reel. CONSTITUTION:The chucked state of a claw 18 of a ribbon take-up reel 17 with a lead-out engaged hole 95a of a ribbon lead-out sheet 95 is detected by reading a marker provided on the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 by an optical sensor provided in a printer body. If a failure in chucking the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 with the claw 18 is detected by the optical sensor, an ink ribbon is pulled back to a certain extent, and a chucking action is repeated until the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 is positively chucked to the claw 18. In this manner, the ribbon lead-out sheet 95 can be positively chucked to the claw 18 of the ribbon take-up reel 17 to be positively wound on a winding body part 17a.

At the same time, an pull-out engagement hole 41a is formed in the ribbon pull-out sheet 41.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make effective use of light enlarge an image focusing range in a picture element and to improve image luminance by polarizing light going out to areas outside of a light modulating means, so as to come into a lens group of a light converging means at a specified incident angle. SOLUTION: A deflecting block 4 formed of a transparent member is disposed to make parallel light coming into an upper part and a lower part, go out at a specified outgoing angle to a vertical direction. Light coming in from the upper part of an incident plane 4a and transmitted through an inclined part 4c goes out in a downward refracted state due to prism effect in the inclined part 4c. Light coming in from the lower part of the incident plane 4a and transmitted through an inclined part 4d goes out in an upward refracted state due to prism effect in the inclined part 4d. Parallel light coming into the deflecting block 4 from three directions such as upper, front and lower directions are therefore refracted by the deflecting block 4 so as to come into a liquid crystal panel 8 from three directions (the upper, front and lower directions) from the vertical view.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently utilize illuminating light emitted from a light source and to form a projected picture with uniform brightness by arranging a light guiding member between the light source and a picture display panel and forming it so that a part of the illuminating light emitted from the light source may be made incident on its reflection surface. SOLUTION: The light guiding member 12 is arranged between the light source 8 and the liquid crystal display panel 10 so that the center axis of cylindrical shape is nearly aligned with an optical axis linking the light source 8 and the panel 10, and the reflection surface is formed on the member 12. The member 12 directly emits the illuminating light to the picture forming area of the panel 10 through inside space, reflects the light by the reflection surface and emits reflected light so as to compensate insufficient light quantity at a corner part obtained by the direct light with the reflected light. Namely, the illuminating light leaked to the periphery of the picture display panel 10 is reflected by the wall surface of the member 12 and guided to the panel 10, so that the illuminating light emitted from the light source 8 is efficiently utilized.

A power source block 7 that is a heat source is arranged at a prcojector lower part separated by the chassis 1. Then, heat generated from the power source block 7 is shielded by the chassis 1, so that the thermal influence of the projector lower part is not given to the projector upper part.

Further, a second retainer part 72 is provided in the lower position of a paper-feeding mechanism on the inner wall face of the bottom of the outer case 20. the end part of the printing front 40, which is separated from the paper-feeding mechanism and falls down on the base of the outer case 20, is retained by the second retainment part 72. The printing paper 40 is inhibited from furthermore coming into the inner part of the device.
