Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and surely select a desired program without interrupting the pictures of a program being viewed as much as possible by changing a position for beltlikely arraying and displaying still pictures. SOLUTION: A CPU 29 controls an MPEG video decoder 25, generates the OS data of a data stream and displays them on a monitoring device. In this case, when a display position button switch is operated, the display position of the data stream is successively switched to one of the lower part, upper part, left side part and right side part of a screen and automatic. Then, when it is a superimposed character broadcasting transmission/reception mode at present and the selected display position of the data stream overlaps with a superimposed character broadcasting display position, the display position of the next order is selected. Also, when it is not the superimposed character broadcasting transmission/reception mode at present and the selected next display position of the data stream is automatic, the CPU 29 controls the decoder 25 and detects the movement of the pictures in the respective areas of the screen. Then, the data stream is displayed in the selected area where the movement is minimum.

The video display processing part displays the slave screen of the channel corresponding to the corresponding position of a main screen, based on the operating direction of the dimple 8A. Next, at the time of rotating the dimple 8A, the channel is successively switched, moved, and displayed. When the dimple 8A is restored to a central position, the channel of the main screen is made the same as the slave screen, and the slave screen is erased.
