Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing oxidized or microfibrillated cellulose (MFC). According to the invention there is provided an aqueous pulp suspension with a consistency of at least 15 %, and at least one oxidant is added to the suspension to oxidize cellulosic hydroxyl groups in the suspension under mechanical mixing or shearing. The oxidized suspension, washed and diluted to a lower consistency, is subjected to homogenization to yield gel-like MFC. Alkali hypochlorite may be used as oxidant, and preferred mediating oxidation catalysts are AZADO and TEMPO. Alkali bromide may be used as a cocatalyst. The MFC product, which as a suspension has an increased viscosity, is suitable as a means of regulating viscosity or for production of films and composites.

Abstract: Un método de producción en línea para proporcionar un flujo líquido de al menos dos aditivos en el material para fabricación de papel en la circulación corta de una máquina de fabricación de papel, alimentando el flujo líquido de los al menos dos aditivos en la circulación corta de la máquina de fabricación de papel, en donde el método comprende además permitir que estos dos aditivos reaccionen entre sí, en donde el método comprende cristalizar carbonato de calcio, y en donde los aditivos son al menos dióxido de carbono y lechada de cal, alimentándose dicho dióxido de carbono y lechada de cal a la circulación corta de la máquina de fabricación de papel caracterizado por que una cantidad adecuada de una celulosa microfibrilada se proporciona sustancialmente de forma simultánea a la alimentación del flujo líquido de los dos aditivos, de tal forma que los aditivos reaccionan o inician la nucleación sobre la superficie de la celulosa microfibrilada o precipitan sobre la superficie de la celulosa microfibrilada y, de esta manera, forman complejos con la celulosa microfibrilada.

Abstract: A method is provided for coating a fibrous web, in particular a fibrous web comprising nanocellulose fibres. The method includes steps of applying a coating agent to a textured surface region of a textured substrate, applying a fibre furnish or a wet fibrous web onto the coated textured surface region of the textured substrate, optionally dewatering to provide a wet fibrous web, and drying said wet fibrous web such that at least a portion of said coating agent is transferred to said fibrous web. The method provides a coated fibrous web with improved barrier properties.
