    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fibers having improved yarn strength, antifibrillation property and color fastness of dyed materials, by spinning a modified polyester prepared by copolymerizing isophthalic acid containing a metallic sulfonate group and a high-molecular weight glycol under specific conditions, and drawing the resultant fibers. CONSTITUTION:4.0-7.0wt% isophthalic acid component, e.g. 5-sodium dimethyl sulfoisophthalate, having a metallic sulfonate group is copolymerized with 0.6- 6.0wt% glycol, e.g. polyethylene glycol, having 400-6,000mol. weight to give a modified polyester having 67-88 polymerization degree, which is then spun through a spinneret at sec shear rate (gamma), =40kg/cm spinneret back pressure (P) and dynes/cm shear stress (tau) and then drawn to give the aimed fibers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a sliver having improved bulkiness, by dyeing and stretch- breaking a fiber consisting of ethylene isophthalate-terephthalate, having an intrinsic viscosity, a boil-off shrinkage, and a shrinkage stress in specific ranges. CONSTITUTION:A drawn tow of a polyester consisting of (A) 5-17mol% of ethylene isophthalate and (B) 80mol% or more of ethylene terephthalate, having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.46-0.52, preferably 0.47-0.51, is steamed for 0.3-1.2sec under a tension of 0.05-0.4g/denier, and then crimped within 2sec to satisfy the relations of the formula I [C is the number of crimps per 25mm; D is the denier per fiber; R is the percentage crimp (%)] and formula II [ Xc is the degree of crystallinity; fc is the orientation function in the amorphous region]. The resulting tow having a boil-off shrinkage of 12-35%, preferably 14-30%, and a shrinkage stress >=100mg/denier, preferably >=125mg/denier is dyed and stretch-broken to give the objective sliver.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Title fiber that contains a specific amount of ethylene 5-sodium sulfo- isophthalate and shows specific values in relative viscosity, tensile strength, tensile elongation, flexural strength as spinning raw stock, thus having high dyeability and pilling resistance. CONSTITUTION:Said fiber is made of polyester containing 4.5-5.5mol%, based on the total structural unit, of 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate and has a relative viscosity of 8.6-11.5. Said fiber is dyeable below 98 deg. with no use of carrier and satisfies formulas (1)-(7) where T is tensile strength in g/d, E, tensile elongation in %, K, flexural strength in time, D, fineness in denier, L, average fiber length in mm, N, constitution ratio in fiber length distribution and C, number of crimp in 25mm length. The resulting fiber is dyed with a basic dye under normal pressure with no use of carrier and shows high productivity in fiber-making, spinning, weaving and knitting process.
