Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjustment device for sheet after fixing where curling can be controlled by adding a humidifying agent to copy sheet carrying a fixed toner image. SOLUTION: A sheet adjustment device 100 is provided with a humidifying agent feeding and dividing assembly 102 including a feeding source 104 storing the humidifying agent 106 and a plurality of measuring rolls 108, humidifying agent imparting roll 120, nip pressure adjustment assemblies 128, 130 and a control system 126 including a controller 90. A thin film is formed by dividing a layer of the humidifying agent at a 1st and a 2nd humidifying agent dividing nips 116, 118 by the measuring roll, the thin film is received by the humidifying agent giving roll at a humidifying agent receiving nip 122 and the desired amount of the humidifying agent is given to the copy sheet 52 at a humidifying agent giving nip 124. A nip pressure adjustment assembly is controlled by having the controller store an equilibrium moisture content value of the copy sheet.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for automatically adjusting the thickness of a water film on a conditioner metering roll. SOLUTION: Thransfer rolls 102 and 103 are provided to form nips 106 and 107 by pairing with backup rolls 104 and 105. A sheet passes through the nips 106 and 107, and the sheet is humidified. Metering rolls 108 and 109 are engaged with the transfer rolls 102 and 103 respectively. The portions of the metering rolls 108 and 109 are arranged in liquid storage tanks 110 and 111 containing a liquid, and thereby, the liquid is added on respective outer surfaces of the metering rolls 108 and 109. An optical sensor 140 is arranged to detect a kind of light reflected from the liquid on the outer surfaces of the metering rolls 108 and 109. A signals is transmitted by the optical sensor 140 and the signal is received by a controller 90. Stepping motors 112 and 113 are actuated by the controller and the metering rolls 108 and 109 are moved in the prescribed direction until the appropriate thickness of a liquid film is obtained on each surface of the metering rolls 108 and 109.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper conditioner for recovering the temperature and moisture balance of paper just after a toner image is homogenized and for reducing the curl of the paper. SOLUTION: A paper conditioner is provided with a pump 140 and a pipe including a supply line, an overflow line, a metering blade line and a return line 131. A soaking hose 150 is used for uniformly supplying a conditioning agent to a core 125. Pin holes 151 arranged at equal intervals adjacent to the core are installed in the soaking hose. The core 125 is made of a high density material such as cotton, etc., and is brought into contact with metering rollers 108 and 109 to supply the conditioning agent to the metering rollers 108 and 109. The metering rollers come in contact with a donor roll, the donor roll comes in contact with humidifying rolls 102 and 103 and finally the humidifying rolls come in contact with the paper. The metering blades 115 and 116 are installed in order to remove the excessive conditioning agent from the humidifying rolls.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device furnishing humidity, as well as preventing a water leakage outside a system. SOLUTION: This device is, incorporating a reservoir for storing liquid of a certain quantity, a pair of rolls 103 and 105 being mutually held in contact with one other so as to define a nip on respective external periphery, and the metering roll 109 associated with the reservoir and one roll 103 of the pair of rolls. The metering roll 109, is forming the nip in company with the one roll 103 of the pair of rolls, and making the flow of controlled liquid directed from the reservoir oriented toward the nip area. A sealing 104 arranged on both ends of the metering roll 109 and the roll 103 forming the nip in company is, let to hold excessive liquid in the nip.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the thickness of a liquid layer on a metering roll. SOLUTION: A nip is formed by forming a pair of a backup roll 83 and a transfer roll 81, a sheet passes through the nip and them, one side of the sheet is humidified. An adjustable metering roll 84 is engaged with the transfer roll. A portion of the metering roll 84 is arranged in a liquid storage tank 85 containing a liquid and, there by, the liquid is added on the outer surface of the metering roll 84. An optical sensor 7 is arranged to detect light reflected from the liquid on the outer surface of the metering roll 84. A 'go-on' signal or a 'not go-on' signal showing whether or not the metering roll 84 comes into contact with the transfer roll 81 is emitted by the optical sensor 87. The appropriate thickness of the liquid layer on the surface of the metering roll 84 is obtained by adjusting the metering roll 84.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet transfer device capable of easily eliminating paper jamming in a nip by applying a necessary vertical force to paper sheets to be fed and releasing the same. SOLUTION: A belt contact ball transfer device includes a magnet ball 77 arranged in the upper surface side of an endless belt 71 and an electromagnet 79 arranged in the backside of the endless belt 71. The magnet ball 77 forms a nip together with the endless belt 71. By supplying a current to the electromagnet 79, the magnet ball 77 is contacted with the endless belt 71 and a vertical force is applied to or released from a fed paper sheet 110. At the time of releasing the vertical force, the paper sheet 110 is easily removed from the nip.
