Abstract: A composition for use in jacketing or insulation materials is disclosed, the composition comprising from 42 to 54 percent by weight of a halogen-free flame retardant, from 26 to 46 percent by weight of an ethylene alkyl acrylate copolymer, such as ethylene ethyl acrylate, optionally from 0 to 15 percent by weight of an ethylene-based polymer, optionally from 0 to 12 percent by weight of a coupling agent, and optionally from 0 to 1 percent by weight of an antioxidant. A cable insulation layer, a cable protective outer jacket, a cable core sheath, and cable comprising the jacketing material composition are also disclosed. Components comprising the composition exhibit balanced and improved melt rheological, tensile, and flame-retardant properties.

Abstract: Provided is a method of producing a polycarbonate-based resin composition, comprising using a polycarbonate-based resin containing a polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer (A) as a raw material, and the step incorporating at least one of a styrene-based resin (B), a flame retardant (C), a flame retardant aid (D), and an inorganic filler (E) into the resin, wherein the copolymer having the following features: the copolymer has a specific polycarbonate block (A-1) and a specific polyorganosiloxane block (A-2); and in a differential molecular weight distribution curve obtained from measurement of the polyorganosiloxane block (A-2) by gel permeation chromatography using the polystyrene calibration curve, the curve having the axis of abscissa indicating a logarithmic value log(M) of a molecular weight M and the axis of ordinate indicating dw/d log(M) obtained by differentiating a concentration fraction w with respect to the logarithmic value log(M) of the molecular weight, (1) a dw/d log(M) value becomes maximum in a range of 3.4≤log(M)≤4.0, and (2) a ratio of a value obtained by integrating the dw/d log(M) value over the range of 4.00≤log(M)≤4.50 to a value obtained by integrating the dw/d log (M) value over the entire range of the log(M) in the differential molecular weight distribution curve is 6 to 40%:

Abstract: A functionalized flame-retardant aconitic acid-derived molecule, a process for forming a flame-retardant polymer, and an article of manufacture comprising a material that contains a functionalized flame-retardant aconitic acid-derived molecule are disclosed. The functionalized flame-retardant aconitic acid-derived molecule can have at least one phosphoryl or phosphonyl moiety with allyl functional groups, epoxy functional groups, propylene carbonate functional groups, or functionalized thioether substituents. The process for forming the flame-retardant polymer can include reacting an aconitic acid derivative with a flame-retardant phosphorus-based molecule to form a functionalized flame-retardant aconitic acid-derived molecule, and combining the functionalized flame-retardant aconitic acid-derived molecule with a polymer. The material in the article of manufacture can be a resin, plastic, polymer, or adhesive, and the article of manufacture can further comprise an electronic component.

Component (A) is 50 to 98 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the total of (A) and (B), and component (C) is 0.001 to 1 percent by mass relative to the total amount of (A).

The present disclosure further provides a phosphor-containing phenol formaldehyde resin cured material which is formed of the phosphor-containing phenol formaldehyde resin compound and an epoxy resin under a high temperature. The phosphor-containing phenol formaldehyde resin compound is added separately or mixed with an epoxy resin curing agent.

Abstract: Crosslinkable insulation materials, which are commonly halogen-free, for use in wire and cable applications are provided. The insulation include a crosslinkable thermoplastic polymer and flame retardant material. The flame retardant material may include a metal hydroxide flame retardant, such as a magnesium, calcium, zinc and/or aluminum hydroxide. The crosslinkable thermoplastic polymer includes silane-grafted polymer blend, which includes a polyolefin plastomer blended with one or more other thermoplastic polymers. The crosslinkable thermoplastic polymer may be curable by exposure to moisture and may include moisture curable silane functionality in the crosslinkable thermoplastic polymer.
