Disclosed are alternate embodiments of various components of a barrier operator system. and methods of operation, including of the mechanical drive subsystem with segmented and self-locking rail unit, rail mounting supports, belt and chain drive tensioning, and drive assembly carriage and interface; the electronics and software routines for controlled operation of the various barrier operator functions; wall console communications with the barrier operator; encryption and decryption of access codes; establishment and monitoring of travel limits and barrier speed and force profiles; thermal protection of barrier operator drive motors; and establishment and control of communications from the barrier operator to accessories by way of a wireless adapter.
Abstract:
The motor control device is an electric motor control device including a control unit (control circuit unit) configured to output a forward-rotation command or a reverse-rotation command to the electric motor. The control unit includes a position detector (door opening/closing information generation circuit) configured to detect a rotation direction of the electric motor when a detection signal is input from a rotation sensor (Hall integrated circuit (IC)), which detects the rotation of the electric motor, while no current is supplied to the electric motor. The control unit includes an electric current supply device (pulse width modulation (PWM) command generation circuit) configured to supply an electric current by which the electric motor is rotated in an opposite direction to the detected rotation direction by increasing an electric current supply duty ratio every time the detection signal is switched.

A vehicle door opening device comprises a drive unit, an opening cable and a closing cable. The drive unit comprises a housing, a motor mounted to the housing and having armature, and a drum rotated by the motor. At a vertex of the housing, an exterior angle was approximately right angles. The axis of the armature is perpendicular to a side of the housing having the vertex at the end. The drive unit can be made smaller.

A window regulator cable tensioner includes a screw and nut assembly having an irreversible thread lead angle, a first spring to absorb reversible slack in the cable, and a second spring to actuate movement of the screw and nut assembly. The stiffness of the first spring is greater than the stiffness of the second spring. The cable tensioner absorbs the reversible slack in the cable differently from irreversible slack in the cable.

An access system includes a transmitter and a receiver for exchange of secure data wherein the system uses an encryption and a decryption algorithm to exchange a secure data packet. The secure data packet may include an unencrypted data packet and an encrypted data packet. The encrypted data packet may include first data encrypted by the encryption algorithm, and data decrypted by the decryption algorithm, wherein the data decrypted by the decryption algorithm includes a combination of a secure signature and second data encrypted by the encryption algorithm.

Door leveling apparatuses are disclosed herein. A door leveling apparatus configured in accordance with one embodiment includes a bracket mounted to a door, such as a vertically-opening sectional door. The apparatus further includes a cable assembly having a first end portion coupled to the bracket and a second end portion coupled to a door lifting system, such as a counterbalance assembly. The first end portion includes an adjuster that enables an operator to adjust the operational length of the cable assembly extending between the lifting system and the bracket, thereby enabling the operator to individually adjust the lengths of two such cable assemblies on opposite sides of the door to align the door with a corresponding opening.

The present invention relates to drive assemblies, and particularly to drive belt and drive chain assemblies for operation of doors, gates or barriers. The invention provides a connection for a flexible toothed belt or similar, including a body having an internal recess with a shaping complementary to that of the toothed belt, configured to allow an end portion of the belt to be engaged therein in a direction transverse to the belt longitudinal direction, so to retain the belt against disengagement in the longitudinal direction. Further, the invention provides a drive assembly including a rail or track, a trolley for connection to the door, gate or barrier, the trolley mountable to run along the rail or track, a longitudinal drive means comprising a chain or belt, connectable in a closed loop arrangement around or within the rail or track, the trolley provided with an engagement means for selective engagement between the trolley and the longitudinal drive means, whereby the engagement means includes an engagement member arranged for selective movement in a direction substantially transverse to the longitudinal direction of the longitudinal drive means and in a direction less than 45° from the plane of the loop of the longitudinal drive means. Also provided is a drive assembly including a partially enclosed track, a trolley for connection to the door, gate or barrier, the trolley mountable to run within the partially enclosed track, a longitudinal drive means, such as a chain or belt, connectable in a closed loop arrangement within the partially enclosed track and engageable with the trolley, the trolley provided with wheels adapted to run within and supported by the partially enclosed track.

A clutch mechanism of the present power device comprises a fixed gear member, a moving gear member engaged with the fixed gear member when moving to a clutch connecting position, an armature for moving the moving gear member to the clutch connecting position when rotated relatively to the moving gear member, an electromagnetic coil unit for applying a brake resistance to the armature, and a clutch holding surface for abutting against the moving gear member when the electromagnetic coil unit is turned off in the clutch connecting state and for holding the moving gear member at a brake-clutch connecting position. The abutment of the moving gear member against the clutch holding surface is released by rotating the moving gear member relatively to the armature in a state in which the electromagnetic coil unit is operated.

A motorized operator for moving a barrier, such as an upward acting garage door, between open and closed positions includes a support mounted adjacent one of a pair of barrier guide tracks or along a barrier counterbalance shaft and a drive mechanism mounted on the support and engaged with an elongated flexible member, such as a chain, cable or cog belt. A cog belt, for example, is connected to a drawbar connected to the barrier at one end and the belt is either connected directly to the barrier at the opposite end or to a storage reel supported for rotation on and with a shaft of a barrier counterbalance mechanism. The storage reel may include a spiral groove and be supported on the counterbalance shaft for axial translation to receive and dereel the belt as the barrier is moved between open and closed positions. One or more belt tensioning pulleys may be mounted on the support.
