    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject polymer having not only excellent color tone but also a meeting temperature sufficient in practical application, and capable of manifesting excellent mechanical strength and processability by polymerizing each specific aliphatic dicarboxylic acid and aliphatic diol in the presence of an acidic phosphorus compound. SOLUTION: (A) An aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or an ester thereof of formula I (R1 is a 1-12C divalent aliphatic group; R11 is H, a lower alkyl or an aryl; t is 0 or 1), and (B) an aliphatic diol of formula II (R2 is a 2-12C divalent aliphatic group) are used as reaction raw materials, and subjected to a polycondensation reaction in the presence of (C) an acidic phosphorus compound and (D) an ester-exchange reaction catalyst in nonsolvent to provide the objective high molecular weight aliphatic polyester-based polymer having >=30,000 number average molecular weight. If necassary, at least one kind of compounds selected from an oxycarboxylic acid-based compound, a carbonic ester-based compound, and a polyglycerol-based compound can be added to the reaction raw materials.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polymer having a specific mol.wt. and specific bond structures in the molecule, capable of expressing excellent heat resistance, mechanical strength and processability and useful as a biodegradable plastic. SOLUTION: This aliphatic polyestercarbonate has a linear structure and a number-average mol.wt. of >=20,000, and contains bond structures of formula I [(n) is 3-12; Z is an n-valent aliphatic group] in the molecule. The polymer is obtained by polycondensing (A) a compound of formula II (R is a divalent 2-12C aliphatic group; R , R are each a 1-4C alkyl), (B) a compound of the formula: HO-R -OH (R is R ), (C) a compound of formula III (R , R are each an aliphatic group, an aromatic group), and (D) a compound of the formula: Z(OH)n in such a ratio that the component D is 0.05-10 moles per 100 moles of the total amount of the components A and C.

SOLUTION: This high-molecular weight aliphatic polyester having a number- average molecular weight of 20,000 or above and containing a connecting structure represented by the formula in the molecule of an aliphatic polyester is provided. In the formula, R and R are each a bivalent aliphatic group; R is hydrogen or an aliphatic group; Y is [OR OCOR CO]m (wherein R and R are as defined above; and (m) is a number of 1 or greater) or OR (wherein R is an aliphatic group or an aromatic group); (k) and (p) are each a number of 1 or greater; k+p or k+p+m is a number of 10 or greater.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an aliphatic polyester by reacting a specific hydroxyl group- containing acrylic ester with carbon dioxide under specific conditions, excellent in moldability and processability, useful as a coating compound, an adhesive, a plasticizer, a compatibilizing agent, etc. CONSTITUTION: This new method for producing a polyester comprises reacting a hydroxyl group-containing acrylic ester of formula I (R is a bifunctional aliphatic or aromatic group) with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst composed of cobalt carbonyl and a pyridine base at 60-150 deg.C to give an aliphatic polyester containing a chain structure of formula II [m and n show each a molar fraction and n/m+n is 0.01-0.20; m+n is 1]. Preferably a diol of the formula R (OH)2 (R is an aliphatic or an aromatic group) is reacted with an aliphatic polyester of the formula II to produce a polyester containing a hydroxyl group at the polymer end of formula III.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the subject copolymer having a specific structure, practical physical properties, moldable and processable into films, fibers, etc., and further biodegradability. CONSTITUTION: This copolymer comprises an ester part of formula I [R is a 1-12C bivalent aliphatic group; R is a 2-12C bivalent aliphatic group; (p) is the molar fraction of the ester part of formula I contained in the copolymer] and a carbonate part of formula II (q) is the molar fraction of the carbonate part of formula II contained in the copolymer; [p/(p+q)] is 0.02-0.3} and having >=15000 number-average molecular weight, expressed in terms of polystyrene and determined by the gel permeation chromatography. The copolymer is obtained by carrying out the transesterification of (A) an aliphatic carboxylic acid diester having 0-0.1mol% content of an aliphatic carboxylic acid as an impurity with (B) an aliphatic diol and (C) a carbonic acid diester at a molar ratio satisfying formulas III and IV [A to C are each the number of components (A) to (C)] in the presence of a transesterification catalyst.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve yield of title compound by reacting butadiene with carbon monoxide and alcohol in the presence of 3,5-dimethylpyridine and acetone when the title compound is obtained from butadiene, carbon monoxide and alcohol in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:When butadiene is reacted with carbon monoxide and alcohol which are each raw materials using cobalt carbonyl as a catalyst, the reaction is carried out in the presence of 3,5-dimethylpyridine and acetone at 100-130 deg.C, preferably 115-125 deg.C and 200-300 atom to provide the aimed compound. Furthermore, since 3,5-dimethylpyridine forms a complex which is insoluble to a hydrocarbon together with dicobaltoctacarbonyl which is a catalyst, most of the catalyst becomes a cobalt carbonyl-3,5dimethylpyridine complex and is separated from a N-hexane layer containing the product and moved to the lower layer by adding N-hexane to the resultant liquid and shaking these liquids. Thereby the aimed compound can be readily recovered.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for pharmaceuticals, in high yield, on an industrial scale at a low cost, by reacting formaldehyde dialkyl acetal with CO in the presence of an aniline derivative or morpholines using a catalyst system containing Co and a base. CONSTITUTION:A glycine derivative (e.g. N-allyl glycine ester or N- alkoxycarbonyl methyl morpholine) can be produced by reacting formaldehyde alkyl acetal with CO in the presence of a catalyst system containing a Co catalyst (e.g. cobalt acetate) and a base (e.g. ethylamine or diethylamine). The reaction is carried out in the presence of an aniline derivative (e.g. aniline or 4-methylaniline) or morpholines. When the Co catalyst is used in the presence of a base, it may be combined further with a trivalent phosphorus compound (e.g. tri-n-butylphosphine).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve selectivity in obtaining the titled substance by reacting CO with H2 in the presence of a Rh-containing catalyst, by adding a trialkylamine containing a bulky (substituted)alkyl group to the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:CO is reacted with H2 in the presence of a Rh-containing catalyst (e.g. tetrarhodium dodecacarbonyl) in the presence of a bulky trialkylamine at 180-300 deg.C at 450-2,000kg/cm to give a polyhydric alcohol in good selectivity. Tribenzylamine, triisobutylamine or N,N-diisopropyl-3-pentylamine may be cited as the trialkylamine and used in the ratio of N/Rh of >=2.4. Usually the trialkylamine is diluted with benzene, decalin, THF or other diluent and used. In the above-mentioned method, a small amount of method is prepared as a by-product.
