    Abstract: Production of a polymer based on a dicarboxylic acid and a diamine by polycondensation in an extruder, by (a) heating a mixture which is solid at room temperature of a dicarboxylic acid with 4 to 12 C atoms and a diamine with 4 to 12 C atoms with a residual humidity content of under 5 wt.% in a counterflow double-worm extruder to a temperature in the region of 150 to 400 DEG C under autogenous pressure to produce an extract A, (b) taking the extract A to a synchronous double-worm extruder, in which the extract A is exposed to a temperature in the 150 to 400 DEG C range and any residual water and water from polycondensation is removed via outgassing apertures, to obtain an extract B, provided that the synchronous double-worm extruder comprises at least two segments with different pressures.
