Abstract: The production of branched polyamides (I) comprises: (i) mixing (A) 10-99.7 wt% molten polyamide prepolymer with a viscosity number (VN) of 40-90 ml/g with (B) 0.3-6 wt% poly- carboxylic acid with 3-10 free COOH groups and (C) 0-80 wt% other additives and processing aids; followed by (ii) solid-phase post- condensation. Also claimed are thermoplastic moulding materials obtained by this process. Preferably after solid-phase post-condensation, the polyamide has a VN of at least 100 ml/g. Component (B) contains 3 or 4 free COOH groups; preferred (B) is benzene-1,3,5- tricarboxylic or -1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid, biphenyl- -3,5,3',5'-tetracarboxylic acid and/or naphthalene-1,3,5,7- tetracarboxylic acid. The amount of (B) used is 0.4-5.8 wt%. Component (A) consists of polyamide (PA) 66, PA 6/6T and/or PA 66/6T.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for producing impact-resistant modified polystyrene molding compounds by continuous anionic polymerization of styrene monomers in the presence of a rubber in a single reaction zone, wherein a styrene solution containing as rubber a styrene-butadiene block rubber or a mixture of a styrene-butadiene block rubber with a polybutadiene rubber, the styrene content of which, relative to the rubber or rubber mixture, is between 10 and 90 wt %, is fed to a reaction mixture, the polymer content of which is above the phase inversion point. The invention also pertains to a molding compound produced by this process and its use in manufacturing sheets and moldings.

Abstract: The invention concerns biodegradable polyesters obtained by reacting a mixture comprising: (a1) 95 to 99.9 wt % of a polyester P1, obtained by reacting a mixture substantially comprising: (b1) a mixture comprising: 35 to 95 mol % adipic acid or esterifying derivatives thereof; 5 to 65 mol % terephthalic acid or esterifying derivatives thereof; and 0 to 5 mol % of a sulphonate group-containing compound; and (b2) a dihydroxy compound selected from the group comprising C2-C6 alkane diols and C5-C10 cycloalkane diols, provided that a compound D having at least three groups capable of esterification is used to prepare the polyester P1; (a2) 0.1 to 5 wt % of a divinylether C1; and (a3) 0 to 5 mol %, relative to component (b1) from the preparation of P1, of compound D, and further biodegradable polymers and thermoplastic moulding compounds. The invention further concerns a process for their preparation and their use for producing biodegradable moulded bodies and adhesives.
