SOLUTION: This gasket material comprises (a) 100 pts.wt. of a styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer composed of a block copolymer, (b) 3-50 pts.wt. of an ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer or an ethylene-(meth)acrylic ester copolymer with 5-45 wt.% content of the (meth)acrylic acid and (c) 50-170 pts.wt. of a paraffinic oil.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic elastomer composition which is excellent in sealing properties, is prevented from generating a gas such as a volatile low-mol.wt. component, and is suitable as a gasket material, especially as a gasket material for a hard disk unit. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. hydrogenated block copolymer prepared by hydrogenating a block copolymer comprising at least one polymer block formed mainly from an aromatic vinyl compound and at least one polymer block formed mainly from a conjugated diene compound, (B) 50-1,000 pts.wt. nonaromatic softener having a kinematic viscosity (at 40 deg.C) of 100 mm2/sec or higher, and (C) 1-100 pts.wt. polymer which is a propylene homopolymer and/or a propylene copolymer formed mainly from propylene and which does not contain a lubricant or has been thermally treated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an inexpensive, efficient and highly accurate production of a gasket with a cover having a complicated shape by constructing a cover of synthetic resin material while constructing a gasket of synthetic resin elastomer material, and integrating the cover body with the gasket. SOLUTION: As the synthetic resin forming a cover 1, resin such as stylene, olefin or polyamide resin is used while as the synthetic resin elastomer forming a gasket 2, thermoplastic elastomer such as of stylene, olefin, urethane or ester type is used. The integration of the cover body 1 with the gasket 2, i.e., integration of the synthetic resin with the synthetic resin elastomer is performed by the two color formation method or insert formation method. Since no metal material is used as the material of the cover body 1, the step of rust proof treatment is eliminated for light weightness, and an inexpensive, efficient and highly accurate production is made possible, and also recycling of the synthetic resin material is attained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vibration-proof member excellent in vibration-proofness by using a thermoplastic material having specified compression set and loss tangent and by specifying the natural frequency of and the load applied to the member. SOLUTION: A hundred (100) pts.wt. hydrogenated styrene-ethylene/butylene- styrene block copolymer having an average mol.wt. of 150,000-400,000 is compounded with 40-500 pts.wt. softener (e.g. a naphthenic, paraffinic, or polyisobutylene oil) having an average mol.wt. of 450-5,000 and a solubility parameter different from that of the copolymer by 3.0 or lower, 10-250 pts.wt. polyphenylene ether resin, and if necessary an inorg. filler, a resin component (e.g. a polyolefin), a cross-linker, etc., and melt kneaded on a twin-screw extruder, etc., to give a thermoplastic material having a compression set (JIS 6301, at 70 deg.C) of 50% or lower and a loss tangent (at 25 deg.C and 5Hz) of 0.05 or higher. The material is molded into a desired shape to give a vibration-proof member which is used under a load of 0.1kgf or lower and has a natural frequency of 1-150Hz.
