When the recognition character is judged as the mark 104 at the circuit 9 by the above collation, the character code of a corresponding recognition character is stored in the memory 6. Hereafter, when the character recognition of a character pattern in a third frame 103 and judgement for whether or not it is the mark 104 are performed on a second line, it is judged as the mark 104, and hereinafter, the character codes of preceding six characters are cleared.
