Or, when a facsimile picture signal received from the other party gateway comes without meeting a specified delay reference, EOL is forcibly transmitted to cause error in the line, and continuously the receiving PSTN side facsimile device transmits from a decryptable MH line as a next line.

For sending an initial identification signal the receiver side continuously sends the initial identification signal until receiving a receiving instruction signal. Thus, if the initial identification signal sent out from the receiver becomes error the initial identification signal is sent out not after lapse of 3 or 4.5 sec or more as in the prior art but immediately to reduce the procedure time and ensure the full duplex.

A counter which continuously counts the number of the reception times of MCF in the same communication is reset. When MCF is continuously received in the same communication except in the number of times except for m-times and 2m-times, a mode change is required. Thus, the protocol deciding the bit rate is started based on the reception situation of the previous page.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce the time required for the procedure and to secure full duplex communication by sending an initial identification signal immediately even when the initial identification signal sent from a receiver is in error on a line. CONSTITUTION: Full duplex communication is attained by a hybrid circuit 6. Then a control circuit 54 controls the entire facsimile equipment. The facsimile equipment sends a procedure signal by the full duplex communication and sends an image signal by the semi-duplex communication. The receiver side equipment sends continuously an initial identification signal till the equipment receives a reception instruction signal. The transmitter side equipment sends a flag pattern till the reception of the initial identification signal and starts transmission of the reception instruction signal after the reception of the initial identification signal and then sends one of reception instruction signals every time one initial identification signal is received till a reception acknowledge signal is received. Thus, even when the initial identification signal sent by the receiver is in error on a line, the initial identification signal is immediately sent again.
