In order to achieve synchronization of ensemble transport interface (ETI) signals of a first network and a second network, a synchronization device receives a first ETI signal from the first network and a second ETI signal from the second network, generates delay times between the same frames, compares frames of the first ETI signal and frames of the second ETI signal, and then synchronizes the first ETI signal and the second ETI signal according to the delay time.

The present invention relates to a transmission method, a transmission apparatus, a reception method, and a reception apparatus of a digital broadcasting signal that can add frame header information to a front portion of a transmission frame in a transmission system for digital broadcasting to thereby determine a different transmission mode, modulation level, hierarchical modulation, error correction code, and the like for each temporally different transmission frame, and a transmission frame structure thereof. The transmission frame structure includes a frame header containing multiplexing information of the transmission frame, and a frame body containing data information associated with a service provided by the transmission frame. Also, the frame header may include a frame synchronization signal unit including synchronization signal information for extracting a start position of the transmission frame and a frame information unit including multiplexing information of data contained in the transmission frame. The multiplexing information denotes information associated with a transmission mode, a modulation level, a hierarchical modulation, and an error correction code of the data contained in the transmission frame.

The present invention relates to a channel encoder for an enhancement layer of a digital-multimedia-broadcasting transmitting device, a digital broadcasting transmitting device, a digital broadcasting receiving device, and an extension structure of sub-channel configuration field (FIG0/1 ) for designating a protection level of sub-channel at the enhancement layer. In a channel encoder for the enhancement layer according to the invention, the channel encoder is included in a hierarchical DMB transmitting unit that modulates a base layer transport stream and a enhancement layer transport stream for video and audio by a base layer modulation system and an enhancement layer modulation system, respectively, and performs symbol mapping of the enhancement layer according to the position of a constellation based on the base layer modulation system. Furthermore, the hierarchical DMB transmitting unit includes an energy dispersal scrambler that disperses energy of the enhancement layer transport stream, and a turbo encoder that receives a double-binary input vector corresponding to an output of the energy dispersal scrambler and encodes it by using a double-binary circular recursive systematic code.

A repeater having different input and output frequencies converts a signal received with the input frequency to a first intermediate frequency signal based on a local oscillating frequency for intermediate frequency conversion, and converts the first intermediate frequency signal to a second intermediate frequency signal by performing digital processing on the first intermediate frequency signal. Then, the repeater generates a first frequency tone signal that corresponds to a difference between the input and output frequencies, and generates a second frequency tone signal from the local oscillating frequency for intermediate frequency conversion and the first frequency tone signal. The repeater up-converts the second intermediate frequency signal to the output frequency based on the second frequency tone signal, and transmits the signal.

Provided are a method and apparatus for transmitting stereoscopic video information based on digital broadcasting. The method for transmitting stereoscopic video information according to the present invention comprises: constructing a signaling table including stream-type information; and transmitting the video information including the signaling table information and video data information. According to the present invention, various types of stereoscopic video services may be provided.

Therefore, the hierarchical modulation device can improve receiving performance of the enhancement layer without influencing the base layer.
