Abstract: A method and a system for embedding information in document data that include text written in a page description language. First, an analysis is made of the layout of the document data in which information is to be embedded. Then, based on the analysis of the layout, a sequence of locations is generated whereat the information is to be embedded. A page description of the text at a determined location is changed in accordance with the embedded information. As a result, the information is embedded in document data that include text written in a page description language. The sequence of locations is generated by producing a string of sequential pseudo-random numbers.

Abstract: It is one object of the present invention to provide a method and system for embedding an electronic watermark directly in an MPEG stream. ÄConstitutionÜ An intra-macroblock of an I-frame or of a P or B-frame is detected in an MPEG stream, and following the detection of an intra-macroblock of the I-frame or of the P or B-frame, data for one macroblock are extracted from the MPEG stream and buffered. An embedding pattern is embedded in the buffered macroblock without changing the length of VLC, and the resultant macroblock is returned to the MPEG stream. More specifically, a DC factor is extracted from the buffered macroblock, and a pseudorandom number is generated to produce an embedding pattern. Then, whether the bit length of the DC factor will not be changed by embedding the obtained embedded pattern is determined. When the bit length of the DC factor not be changed, the embedding pattern is embedded in the buffered macroblock. When the bit length will be changed, whether 1/2 of the embedding pattern can be embedded is determined. If possible, 1/2 of the embedded pattern is embedded in the macroblock.

Abstract: The present invention prevents embedded verification information (eg a watermark) from being lost even when a quantization process is performed after verification information has been embedded. A pre-embedding portion 32 converts a image data value so that quantized values not changing by error introduced through the embedding process. A hash value calculator 300 calculates a hash value using image data and key information, and a hash value embedding portion 302 embeds the hash value in the image data. An output format converter 304 quantizes the image data in which the hash value is embedded, and generates JPEG data.

Abstract: A digital camera has means to authentication information into a photographed image for detecting the identity of the image. The authentication information supplied integrally with the image data, so that, the verifier can verify the image data without saving the authentication information. This is achieved by having a region dividing unit 24 for dividing the image into a first image region and a second image region in response to the digital signal, authentication information generating means 29 for generating authentication information from data in the first image region, encrypting means 30 for encrypting the authentication information, hiding means 25 for embedding the encrypted authentication information into the second image region by operating the data in the second image region, and region combining means 26 for combining the first image region in the image with the second image region in which the authentication information is embedded.

Abstract: In order to hide message information (m) in media information (M), the frequency transform of the message information (m) and the media information (M) are performed, and frequency spectra f1 and f2 are obtained. Next, from the frequency spectrum f2 of the message information (m), a region containing feature frequency components representative of the features of the message information (m) in real space is extracted as the base region B. Then, n copies of the base region B are generated, and in frequency space, the n copies are dispersedly arranged. Also, by making the frequency components other than that equal to zero, a frequency spectrum f3 is generated as intermediate information. Finally, the frequency spectrum f3 and the frequency spectrum f1 are added, and by performing the inverse frequency transform of the result, the message information (m) can be hidden in the media information (M).
