The compound of formulaIis a novel substance and is obtained by converting an alcohol of the formula ROH into an alkyl halide, reacting the resultant alkyl halide with a glycerol alkali metallic alcoholate of formula III (R' is lower alkyl, etc.; M is alkali metal), and hydrolyzing the resultant 1-alkyl glyceryl ether of formula IV.

The representative examples of the component (B) are the complunds of formula (one or two of R1-R4 are 8-20C alkyl, etc. and the others are 1-3C alkyl, etc.), etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A hair cosmetic, containing a low-allergic green tea extract obtained by fractionating a green tea extract with water and a specific polar organic solvent as an active constituent, capable of giving moderate style retention forming property to the skin and having good touch and combing property. CONSTITUTION:A hair cosmetic obtained by fractionating a green tea extract with a polar organic solvent having 2-20vol% solubility in water at 25 deg.C and water at 30:70-70:30 volume ratio, shaking the resultant mixture, allowing the mixture to stand, separating the aqueous phase, and incorporating the aqueous phase which is a low-allergic green tea extract directly or concentrating and drying the resultant extract and then incorporating the concentrated and dried aqueous phase part in a hair cosmetic. The amount of the aqueous phase part to be incorporated is preferably 0.0001-1wt%, particularly 0.001-0.1wt% in the hair cosmetic. The above-mentioned polar organic solvent to be used in the fractionation with the solvent is particularly preferably ethyl acetate. The green tea extract is preferably prepared by extracting particularly green tea leaves with water at 70-100 deg.C.
